Dealing with Pressure while Waiting (2)
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the concluding part of this edition. I believe you were blessed by the last edition, and I hope you have begun a search to know your purpose in life. This week, I shall focus on Overcoming Anxiety.
It is important to begin by stating that being single does not mean you should be anxious about being married. God’s desire is that as His child, every additional day of your life should be exciting and full of purpose (Proverbs 4:18). Therefore, refuse anxiety!
Anxiety is a feeling of fear or apprehension about what is to come. It is a spirit from hell to torment and confuse believers. It is a killer disease which needs a cure, and if left unchecked, it degenerates into a physically dangerous disease. So, you have a choice to either refuse it or let it kill you.
Whenever you give in to anxiety, you are judging God unfaithful, and you are calling Him a liar. He has said He will not withhold marriage from you. Hold on to His Word and trust Him to bring it to pass in your life. God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts than ours. Even when He appears to be delayed, you must never lose hope because He makes all things beautiful in His time. As it is written: Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in everything by supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6).Instead of allowing anxiety to take over your life, why not cast all your cares upon Him (1 Peter 5:7).
How to overcome anxiety:
The Word of God
The Word of God has the keys. When you discover His many wonderful promises concerning your marital life, you will counter every contrary thought or feeling and surmount every pressure that comes your way. All of God’s promises, including marriage, will surely ome to pass in your life. The Word says: For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us (2 Corinthians 1:20). So, as you set apart time to study the Word of God, revelation comes, and revelation will give you authority, power and dominion over anxiety. If He said it, He will do it. The Word says: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it (Isaiah 55:11). His Word will build your confidence in His ability.
Prayer
Prayer, which is the master key, changes things. Every pressure can be taken to God in prayer; pour your heart out to Him. The children of Israel cried out to God in the land of bondage, and He heard them (Exodus 3:7-10). No amount of worry has ever solved any problem; instead, it compounds them. Once anxiety-causing thoughts surface, you must say a word of prayer in faith. You can even switch to praying in the spirit by praying in tongues. If such thoughts are not checked, fear will take root.
Supplication
Supplication, which is a higher form of prayer, changes things. While prayer is likened to asking, supplication is likened to seeking (Matthew 7:7-8). It is pleading your case with God in prayers by producing strong reasons from the Word of God to back up your petition. The Scripture says: Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified (Isaiah 43:26). You must be loaded with the Word of God to bring forth your strong reasons why you should be maritally settled.
Thanksgiving
In addition to prayer and supplication, thanksgiving is a must if you want to come out of that grave of marital delay. So, fill your heart and mouth with praises, thank Him in that situation, and He will bring you out of every grave (John 11:41-44). Thanksgiving will secure, preserve and perfect your blessings.
Therefore, while waiting for your life partner, be assured that God is not slow. Psalm 34:5 says: They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. Never be too fast for Him; His time is the right time, and He is never too late. He is always on time; be assured that God is not slow, for He is thoughtful of you.
However, to overcome anxiety, you must be born again. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith:
You can accept Him now if you have not done so. If you will like to do this, please say this prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
Congratulations! You are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name!
