How to Handle Family Challenges- Part 1
Dear Reader,
Welcome to this beautiful new year of divine surprises, where you and your family will flourish no matter the hard times that hit the world in Jesus’ name! This month, we will be exploring How to Handle Family Challenges.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, challenges are defined as difficult tasks that test somebody’s ability. So, handling family challenges from the definition above can be said to be the ability to deal with, manage or control some difficult situations in the family. Therefore, we need God’s wisdom to handle any family challenges.
What is wisdom?
Wisdom is the ability to judge correctly and follow the best course of action based on knowledge and understanding. Knowing much is not equivalent to wisdom. So, it is not the accumulation of knowledge but knowing how to use that knowledge in ways beneficial and giving for our mutual existence that makes us wise. The Word says: Through wisdom is a house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches (Proverbs 24:3-4). Therefore, wisdom is the master builder of homes. Paul says, According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon (1 Corinthians 3:10).
Wisdom is the builder of the home, and it is more potent than prayer and fasting because it is laying hold on the Word of God and trading with it. Bishop David Oyedepo said, “A wise man is one who knows from God’s Word which way to go and how to handle situations to make them produce the desired result.”
To handle family challenges, please note the following:
Take Heed to Instructions: One of the ways to receive God’s instruction is by studying His Word. The Bible says: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). God’s Word is loaded with instructions that make for successful home but can only be accessed by studying the Word. Also, you can get instructions from relevant materials, such as books and articles from anointed authors.
Meditate: Receiving instructions from the Word of God does not make for wisdom; meditation is required. Meditation is the process of reasoning, pondering or thinking through such instruction so as to contact the life in it and apply it in your home.
Planning: Having a successful home is premised on wise planning through covenant sense and available facts. The Word says: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding (Proverbs 4:7). Therefore, with wise planning, you can avoid challenges in your home and make it a place of beauty.
However, access to this wisdom from above requires you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you are not born-again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born-again.
Congratulations! You are now born-again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name!
