The Beauty of Adolescence-Part 2
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching! In the last edition, we examined the beauty and stages of adolescence. So this week, we will focus on What is Expected of a Godly Adolescent.
A wise man rightly said that when you take care of your spiritual beauty it will reflect in your face. You can become a godly and beautiful adolescent without knowing how to go about it.To be a godly adolescent, you must consciously develop some qualities.
These qualities are:
- Good Christian Character. Every godly adolescent must show a godly lifestyle to those around them. The Word says: Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children (Ephesians.5:1). This can be easily seen in the way you see, talk or do things. A good character is characterised by the fear of God, Integrity, self-control and diligence (Ecclesiastes 12:13; Proverbs 22:29; Romans 13:13a).
- Purity. This is the state of keeping oneself from all ungodly friends, thoughts and acts. The Word says: There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God (Genesis.39:9; also see Philippians 4:8).
- Personal Development: This is the time to discover your God-given purpose and start taking steps towards its manifestation (Jeremiah 1:5, 29:11).
How to Become a Godly Adolescent?
- You must guard against the following: the love of the world, the philosophies of men, low self-esteem, subtlety of the enemy, and Pride.
- As a godly adolescent, you must have a personal relationship with Jesus as your Lord and a Personal Saviour. The Word says: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). This is not about your religion or the religion of your parents; it is about making a choice for God.
- Be filled with the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4, 14, 41).
- Read, study and meditate on God’s Word on a daily basis (Joshua 1:8).
- Ensure you watch and pray ( 1 Peter 5:8).
- You must dissociate from every company that is ungodly and does not please God (1 Corinthians 15:33).
- Let your goals and focus be God-aligned (Proverbs 22:29), and use your God-given talents to glorify God because at this stage, your peers, families and loved ones will praise you for your talents. However, you must always remember to ascribe glory to the giver (2 Corinthians 4:7).
Remember, when you live a godly life as an adolescent, it will be hard to fulfil the dictates of the world, and you become a living witness for Jesus. So, properly positioned to fulfil God’s plan and purpose for your life. As such, you shine as a light to your world (1 Thessalonians 5:5). For example, David was a youth when he developed a strong and vibrant relationship with God. No wonder the Scripture recorded that he was a man after God’s heart (1 Samuel 13:14). You have a great future, and you shall blossom in Jesus’ name!
However, to bear God’s light everywhere you go, you need to be born again. if you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
Congratulations! You are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name! Please write or call to share your testimonies with me through oyedepofaitha@gmail.com OR 08141320204
