Embrace your Identity-Part 1
Dear Reader,
Welcome to this exciting month of unusual possibilities! I pray God perfects all that concerns you in Jesus’ name! This month, we shall be exploring Embrace Your Identity.
What is identity? According to Collins Dictionary, identity means the character that distinguishes one from others. However, when you receive Christ into your life as a teenager, you experience a total transformation. Therefore, discovering your identity in Christ is life-changing, and it changes every bit of you and the perception of others about you because the fruits you bear will be likened to that of Christ. Also, this will enable you to have a deeper understanding of God and His Word. For instance, I gave my life to Christ as a teenager, when I was about 15 years of age, and this brought about a total change in my life and everything about me was transformed. Therefore, this implies that when one receives Christ, there will be a total restructuring of life; you will become a new creation, and the grace of God will set you apart and distinguish you in all ramifications.
Let us examine the lie the enemy portrays to us about our identity in Christ:
The devil can feed you with what you are not in Christ by making you see the negative things about you, which is not what God has made you to be. The devil comes with the lie that you are not enough, making you think you need to become someone else to feel wanted and approved. Hence, the need to seek validation from your peers and the pressure to join the world. This is a lie from the pit of hell; God has made you enough, which is why He has created you in His image and likeness (Genesis 9:6b).
Furthermore, you might feel you are not valued, loved, preferred or distinguished; that is a lie from the pit of hell. God’s love for you caused Him to send His son to die for you at the cross of Calvary (John 3:16). Therefore, you have been chosen and set apart for a greater destiny and a distinguished identity. The Word says: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him that who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). So, in Christ and by faith, you are distinguished, set apart, treasured, loved, forgiven and chosen by God. Your identity in Christ cannot be altered or messed up. Therefore, embrace your identity; you are the best version of yourself and distinguished to glorify God here on earth.
However, you cannot embrace your new identity in Christ without salvation. This means accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. So, if you are not born-again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born-again.
Congratulations! You are now born-again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name!
