Your Role as a Mother – Part 2
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the concluding part of this edition. I believe you now know that loving, controlling and imbibing the Word of God into your children is part of your responsibility as a mother. This week, we dive deeper into Your Role as a Mother.
Another role you need to play in the lives of your children include:
Leading by Example. This is another profound way of raising your children as a mother. You can give your children adequate spiritual needs and mould their character by leading by example. The Word says: …be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity(1Timothy 4:12). Children are natural mimics; no matter what you teach them, they learn better by example. Therefore, as a mother, it is not enough to instruct your child; you must emulate what you instruct. So, when you lead by example, you will leave a footprint on the sands of time for your children to follow. Also, demonstrating the virtues you want your children to imbibe is more powerful than caning or even teaching them. Your examples are what stick with them, not the volume of words you speak. Thus, your points can be forgotten, but your examples will remain in them. Some mothers instruct their children not to use abusive words, but they shout abusive words at their husbands or at people who get on their nerves. They commit all manner of atrocities and yet teach the Word of God to their children. Remember that an ounce of example is worth a ton of preaching. You may think they are too young to know what is happening, but they can see all you do.
However, there is profit in training your children effectively, which can range from monetary gain or otherwise. One of such profit is joy; it gladdens your heart when you see the results of your work in your children. Therefore, the more you labour in bringing them up, the more reward you stand to receive. It may look tasking playing your role as a mother, but you must realise that God will not ask you to do what is impossible (1Corinthians 10:13). Ruth Bell Graham once said, “As a mother, my job is to take care of the possible and trust God with the impossible.” As you accept your responsibility and raise godly seeds unto the Lord, you will have cause to rejoice in the future.
However, to effectively play your role as a mother, you need the help of God. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
Congratulations! You are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name!
