The Manifold Blessings of Marriage – 1

Welcome to this great month. I pray that the resurrection power of God visits you and your family in Jesus’ name! This month, we will be exploring The Manifold Blessings of Marriage.
What is Marriage? Marriage is a union between a man and a woman. It is the coming together of two people of the opposite sex to build a God-centered home. Also, the reason God created marriage is to create help that is suitable, adaptable and complementary to establish unity and procreation. Thus, marriage is not the culture of any country of the world but heaven’s culture. It is also God’s idea and not man’s idea (Genesis 2:18-25). Therefore, it involves a higher level of relationship with the man and woman than with any other person on earth. It is a union of the spirit, soul and body (Genesis 2:24). When a man and a woman come together as husband and wife, they are expected to have entered a better way of living. The Word says: Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour (Ecclesiastes 4:9 ).
However, blessings that accrues to marriage includes the following:
Spiritual Strength. The essence of a man and a woman coming together should bring about vibrant spiritual life. God expects the married couple to become stronger spiritually than when they were both single. The Word says: How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight… (Deuteronomy 32:30). Thus, they become a greater terror to the devil than they were before marriage. However, many people (Women in particular) complain of not being spiritually active as they were before they got married due to greater responsibilities (That is, having to look after the husband, children and general household chores), and even when they are also employed outside the home.
However, this does not negate God’s Word, which declares that, Two are better than one… (Ecclesiastes 4:9). The blessing of a husband and children should not be used as an excuse not to stay in touch with God; otherwise, you are opening up for the blessing to be turned into a curse. All you need to do is believe God for better time management so that nothing suffers — not your walk with God or your family (Ephesians 5:15-16).
Prayer Power. Marriage offers the couple unity so that when they offer prayers to God on any issue, He honours their request. This is because …If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 18:19).A couple is more readily united on issues than with friends. For instance, if they require the fruit of the womb and both of them believe God for it, not wavering, God is compelled to grant their request. Thus, when a man and his wife agree, there is tremendous power released, and if they disagree, their prayers are hindered (1 Peter 3:7).
Divine Favour. Another blessing of marriage is His divine favour. The Word says: Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord (Proverbs 18:22). A marriage that is favoured by God is irreversible. As a result, men are compelled to favour you because when a man’s ways please the Lord, He causes even his enemies to be at peace with him. The favour of God elevates you and your spouse to such great heights that men begin to envy you, thereby becoming a reference point of a good marriage. When you are favoured, your marriage becomes desirous by many. Also, God’s favour secures lifting and promotion in status. Taking a look at the first family (Adam and Eve), one discovers that even after the fall, Adam’s family still enjoyed God’s favour. They had sewed fig leaves together and made aprons to cover their nakedness, but because of the special favour God reserved for the family, He overlooked their betrayal and clothed them with animal skin. He clothed their nakedness and thus removed shame from them.
However, the first step to enjoying blessings in your marriage is to have an intimate relationship with your Creator. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
