Time: The Currency of Life- Part 1
Dear Reader,
Welcome to this exciting year of great opportunities. I believe that as you heed to the instructions dished out through these articles, your life will never remain the same in Jesus’ name. This week, we shall be focusing on Time: The Currency of Life.
What is Time? According to the dictionary, time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present and future regarded as a whole. Time is one of the greatest treasures God has given to man.The Word says: Redeeming the time, because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16). There is no life without time. Therefore, time is a currency we use to trade here on earth. God gave us time and expects us to make every moment of our life count by making good use of our time, situation notwithstanding. A wise man rightly said that it is not about how you spend time but how you invest it. So, life is governed by time.
In this new year, do not waste time panicking about what you could not achieve last year; think of new ways of achieving your goals as you journey through this new year. Time is a currency you can only spend once. The quality of time invested determines the quality of our lives. Ensure your time is well managed.
Biblical Perspective about Time
- God had a timing for the completion of His creation on earth. The Word says: And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made… (Genesis 2:2a)
- Jesus knew the value of time, so He worked maximally with it and finished His assignment. The Word says: I must work… while it is day… (John 9:4).
- Apostle Paul clearly stated: …time is short… and as such it must not be wasted(1 Corinthians 7:29).He also admonished about …redeeming the time… (Ephesians 5:16).
- King David clearly said: So teach us to number our days… (Psalms 90:12)
- Even the ants know the importance of right timing (Proverbs 6:6-8)
Contemporary Examples
- Benjamin Franklin. He was an elementary-school dropout; he left school after his 10th birthday due to his family’s inability to afford his education. However, he used every opportunity to obtain knowledge; he was constantly reading books and trying to get exhaustive explanations for everything that caught his curious eye. Today, he is known as the man behind the invention of the bifocal and lightning rod.
- Thomas Edison. He spent his time looking for ways to invent the light bulb after failing 10,000 times. When he finally succeeded, he said, ‘I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work’.
Therefore, in this new year, there is a need to evaluate how you spent your time in the past and see positive ways of investing the same.
However, your time cannot be efficiently managed without the help of God. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
Congratulations, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name!
