DEVELOPING INTIMACY WITH GOD (2)
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the Concluding part of this teaching. Previously we looked at Developing Intimacy with God by defining intimacy and considering the different levels of your relationship with God. Today, we shall be looking at the subject ‘Developing Intimacy with God’.
We shall be considering avenues through which we can develop an intimate relationship with God. To Develop an Intimate relationship with God, we have to deliberately make yourself available through deep Word study, prayer life and constant fellowshipping with Him.
Word Study
The Bible is the written Word of God, and it is as powerful as hearing God speak to you audibly. Know God personally and daily develop your relationship with Him through deep Word study. Studying His Word will make you familiar with His voice. Naturally, if you have a strong relationship with someone, like a family member or a close friend, you could easily pick his or her voice among the crowd. Many years ago, when my biological mother was still alive, we went to a particular city for a meeting; it was such a great crowd. After the meeting, it became an uphill task to get back in the car after the event. But in the midst of the mammoth crowd, I could identify my mother’s voice, even though I never knew that she was in that city at that time. That is how it should be with God. This kind of relationship can be developed through studying His Word. If you are familiar with God’s voice, He will caution and deliver you from entering wrong relationships with men.
Prayer Life
Prayer is our communication link with God. If your prayer life is buoyant, then your relationship with Him will be buoyant. God desires that we commune with Him daily. Just as it is not natural to have a relationship with someone you do not talk to, you cannot have a deep relationship with God if your prayer life is not sound. The Word says: O thou that heareth prayer unto thee shall all flesh come (Psalms 65:2). God, who is your Father, is ready to hear you anytime you call. Do not hesitate to commune with Him, even concerning the minutest details of your life.
Constant Fellowship
The gathering together of saints in fellowship is a vital way of relating with God. Go to church regularly because it strengthens your relationship with God. Refuse to be only a Sunday worshipper. God is always there whenever and wherever His name is called upon in truth and indeed. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them (Matthew 18:20). As you go to church and attend fellowship, you partake of the gifts that operate in the Body of Christ, and you are more rooted in your relationship with your heavenly Father.
To create an intimate relationship with God, you must be born again. God does not dwell in filthiness, and sin is filthiness to Him. However, you get born again by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you are set for this, please say this prayer: Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Now, I know I am born again!
Congratulations, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name! Please, write or call to share your testimonies with me through oyedepofaitha@gmail.com OR 08141320204.
