TACKLING MARITAL PRESSURE (2)
Dear Reader,
Last week, I began by showing you the first step to take as you prepare for your glorious marriage. Today I shall be sharing on overcoming anxiety.
As a single man or lady, you don’t have to be full of anxiety in expectation of the day when you will be married. Remember God’s desire is that as His child, every additional day of your life should be exciting and full of purpose (Proverbs 4:18). Refuse anxiety.
Anxiety is a feeling of fear or apprehension about what’s to come. It is a spirit from hell to torment and confuse believers. It is a killer disease which needs a cure, if left unchecked; it degenerates into physically dangerous disease. So you have a choice to either refuse it or let it kill you.
Whenever you give in to anxiety, you are judging God unfaithful, and you are calling Him a liar. He has said he will not withhold marriage form you. Hold on to His Word and trust Him to bring it to pass in your life. God’s ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts than ours. Even when He appears to be delaying, you must never lose hope, because He makes all things beautiful in His time. Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in everything by supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). Instead of allowing anxiety to take over your life why not cast all your cares upon Him (1 Peter 5:7).
HOW TO OVERCOME ANXIETY
- The Word of God
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us (2 Corinthians 1:20). See what this scripture says, all of the promises of God including marriage will verily come to pass in your life. The Word of God has the keys. When you discover His many wonderful promises concerning your marital life, then you will be able to counter every contrary thought or feelings as well as surmount ever pressure that comes your way. As you set apart time to study the Word of God, revelation comes and revelation will give you authority power and dominion over anxiety. If He said it then He will do it. So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it (Isaiah 55:11) his word will build your confidence in His ability.
2. Prayer
Prayer changes things, it is the master key. Every family pressure can be taken to God in prayer, pour out your heart to Him. The children of Israel cried out to God in the land of bondage and He heard them (Exodus 3:7-10). No amount of worry has ever solved any problem rather it compounds it. Once anxiety causes thoughts to surface, you must say a word of prayer in faith. You can even switch over to praying in the spirit i.e. praying in tongues. If such thoughts are not checked, fear will take root.
Prayer is also pleading your case with God in prayers by producing strong reasons from the Word of God, to back up your petition. The scripture says Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified (Isaiah 43:26). You must be loaded with the Word of God to bring forth your strong reasons why you should be martially settled.
3. Thanksgiving
In addition to prayer and supplication, thanksgiving is a must if you want to come out of that grave of marital delay. So fill your heart and mouth with praises, thanking Him for your marriage and He will bring you out of every grave (John 11:41-44). Thanksgiving will secure, preserve and perfect your blessings.
In conclusion, be assured that God is not slow as you are waiting for your life partner, look unto Him. Psalm 34:5 says “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed” Never be too fast for Him, His own time is the right time, He is never too late and He is always on time just be assured that God is not slow for He is thoughtful of you.
To be able to overcome anxiety you must be born again You can accept Him now if you have not done so. Say this prayer of faith with me: “Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today as a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose on the third day. Forgive me of my sins. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today and help me to be free from anxiety all the days of my life Amen”.
