Use The Right Door
I have been in a new office for about a month now and this time, I have a reception office that everyone first must come through before they get to my personal office. It’s definitely a change because I’ve never before had that but it’s one of the best changes yet! I get to focus on my work because I have way less distractions and whenever I need to take a quick break from looking so much at a computer screen or reading bunches of papers, I get to take a little walk to the other offices to check up on work I’ve assigned; rather than merely calling over the intercom or having them come to my office, all of the time. It has been a great way to see God work.
Well, as my office does have its own door from the outside as well (though it’s always locked), I realized that people would always knock on the door for a while… and then try to open the door. Interesting thing though is, the door right beside mine, the reception door, is the one that has the welcome mat and the sign of the office on it. Mine and the door past the reception door doesn’t have a sign and so why do people tend to stop by those doors first?
On one of such days, someone kept knocking; and the more I wondered who it could be, I began shouting, “use the next door!” Well, it didn’t seem like that person was interested in listening to anything I said and so he kept knocking, trying to open up the door, knocking some more, attempting to leave, and then coming back to do it all over again. It made me realize, no matter how hard or dedicated you are to knocking on the wrong door, it will never provide to you, your expectations.
How many times have we tried knocking on certain doors that we know God has absolutely closed, expecting positive results? You know that God broke down that relationship for a reason but you keep going back without clearing from God; you know He took that job away from you completely because you kept contemplating sleeping with your boss just to get a raise; He absolutely slammed shut all the doors to that weekend in VI/Vegas/Ibiza because He knew that going there would destroy your relationship with Him YET you keep pushing and pushing forgetting that He by Himself slam it shut! And He did it all for you.
If He left the door open, it would destroy your spirit man and leave you fighting with your flesh the battles that you never would be able to win without a strong spirit. As a married woman, why are you planning trips with your friends to a place you know that a guy you “fancy” and one you think is “cute”, will be at? You pack all the clothes you have never even worn for your husband just for this weekend trip and then you wonder why through the planning process, God keeps shutting every door to make the trip work! Your job won’t let you take your vacation days, the hotel says they’re all booked, your friends keep changing the dates, your husband keeps asking for you both to do something throughout that same weekend, etc. As a single man, you wonder why your mother/friend/cousin/pastor always barges in your room or calls your phone right when you’re about to turn on that pornography. These are the moments when you try so drastically to push the wrong door open but God keeps it slam shut! These moments, we must be most grateful for.
A closed door does not always equal a fail. If you realize that God is always closing the doors that lead to the finalization of one of your “dreams,” it is most important to take a step back. Ask yourself, “Am I doing this with a pure heart? Is this something that will bring glory to God’s name? Am I walking in the path that He has designed for me?” If your answer is yes to all of these questions, you must now go to God in prayer. Ask Him clear and direct questions. Lord, why is this happening? I need You to make a way!
On the other hand, if you know that the answer to any of the above questions is No, thank Him for closing those doors and take a deep breath. He’s freed, saved and delivered you from disaster!
What an awesome God we serve.
Therefore, to the God Who shuts doors that aim to ruin our destinies, we say thank You. You alone are deserving of ALL our praise, honor and thanksgiving.
Don’t forget to go through today thanking Him… He has, is, and will continue to save you from all disasters. Our God is so awesome!
You must have Christ in your life to know the way of God on every issue in life. This simply means that you must be born again and you can only do so by having a personal relationship with Him. You can do this by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. That way, you will be saved. If you are ready to be saved, please say this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. I can’t help myself. Forgive me of my sins. From today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me. Now, I know I am born again.”
