Welcome to September! It is my prayer that God will right all the wrongs in your life and destiny. This week, I shall be examining The Right Association.
Let us begin by first understanding who a friend is. A friend is someone with whom you relate intimately. He/she is who you identify with, share common experience with and bare your mind to. A simple definition of a friend shows that not everybody is qualified to be your friend. So, you need the Word of God in choose who your friend should be. Isolation is not healthy; we all need the influence of good and right company keep us on the right path.
Therefore, it is impossible to amount to anything outside the company you keep. This explains why the Bible says that anyone who keep company with the wise is wise, but the companion of fools will not only be foolish, but will ultimately be destroyed (Proverbs 13:20). One thing some Christians fail to understand is that one cannot flow together with every believer simply because the person calls himself /herself your friend.
You cannot be a Christian, and your friend is an unbeliever. Anyone who is lacking in Christian character should never be your friend. The Word says: …that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly… (2 Thessalonians 3:6).I believe the choice of your friend determines the success or failure of your life. Hence, your vision, goal or target should determine your choice of friends. Also, your association goes a long way in affecting how you feel about yourself. The comments of others can drastically affect your thinking and the way you see yourself. The Psalmist said: I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts (Psalm 119:63).
A wise man once said, ‘Show me your friends, and I will tell you who you are’. The question then is, who is your friend? If your friend is one that is a liar, a cheat, a thief, one that beats his wife or is covetous, and you think you are not anything like him or her, you are wrong. In no time, the nature of your friend will begin to rub off on you, and the end-result will be destruction.
The basis for any association should be agreement (Amos 3:3).When the company or association you keep does not agree with the things you believe in, you must end that relationship. Friendship, as they say, is by choice and not by force! Separate yourself from wrong friends. Be selective in your association and select your friends in wisdom. Do not allow the wrong company destroy your destiny.
Most teenagers, who find themselves in all forms of evil today, got into them via the wrong company. One major reason people are enticed to join the wrong company is that they are not bold enough to identify with the Lord Jesus Christ. Let people know your stand for God. Here is a self-evaluation you can do, write down the names of two of your best friends, and note that the way they live their lives will determine how your life will end up. Therefore, say no to ungodly friendships.
However, we need wisdom to make the right choice of friend, and that comes from above. So, until you are born again, you do not have access to the wisdom from above. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
Congratulations! You are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name! Please write or call to share your testimonies with me through email@example.com OR 08141320204
