THE REWARD OF PURITY (1)
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the month of June! My prayer for you is that God will shine His light in every dark area of your life. This week, I will be examining what I title The Reward of Purity.
According toCambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, purity is defined as“The state of not being mixed with anything else … or when something is clean or free from harmful substances. In biblical context, purity simply means to be pure, without blemish and stain (sin) within and without.
Areas of Purity
There are three major areas of purity; Thought, Words and Action. The Word of God says: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer (Psalm 19:14). These three are interconnected but separate.
1. Your Thought
The thought is like the seed you sow; it has to do with the contents of your heart. Your heart is the fuel tank of your life; so, the issues of purity comes from your heart. The Bible says: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). As invisible as your thoughts are, they are so powerful that they define your living. If you carry stinking thoughts, you will definitely live a stinking life.
Your life is a product of your thoughts. The clothes you have on you right now are a product of your previous thoughts. If you select clothes in advance like me, I am sure you went through your closet last night and made a selection of what to wear today. So, everything in your life is a product of your thoughts. Therefore, to secure your future, you must tame your thoughts and tailor them in the desired direction. This is crucial because your life will follow the direction of your dominant thoughts. Little wonder the Bible warns in Proverbs 23:7 that For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
So, your thought needs to be tamed. The devil will always bring his ideas to you, so sanitise your thoughts; refuse to accommodate stinking, wild, negative or anti-glorious thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). Instead, focus on the positive things of life. You may ask, “But how do I sanitise my thoughts?” The following hints will be helpful:
a. Beware of what you see
b. Be mindful of what you read
c. Be careful what you hear.
2. Your Words
Your word is your bond; it speaks and reflects who you are. The Bible says: A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered (Proverbs 17:27 NIV). So, beware of what you say! Words are seeds, and when you sow them, you reap them. Mark 11:23 says: …he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Your words determine your worth. What you say determines what you have, be it positive or negative. Therefore, your words determine your world; you can frame your world with your words. What you declare today determines what will be delivered to you in future. What you say sets a pace for what you see. Note that your words either spare you or snare you; the choice is yours! Speak the scriptures into your future, and no devil will be able to stop it from coming to pass. Proverbs 6:2 says: Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
Your mouth determines your making. This is one major principle I leant when the devil attacked my body. During the time, negative thoughts flooded my mind, but I learnt to fight them with words. I learnt to watch my words, never allowing negative words come out of my mouth. Instead, I kept speaking by faith what the scriptures have declared about my total deliverance and rescue. I kept speaking life-changing words, and slowly but surely, my circumstances began to change for the better until my total rescue manifested. No matter what the devil or people say about you, what you say is final.
However, your relationship with God is what informs what you think or say. Until you are born again, your thoughts and words will be manipulated by the devil. So if you are not born again, this is an opportunity to do so. If you are set, please say this prayer: Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Now I know I am born again!
Congratulations! You are now born again. I believe you will begin to experience the reality of the price Jesus paid at Calvary. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name!
