CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT
Dear Reader,
Peace and blessings in Jesus name. It is my privilege to bring God’s Word to you today. May the light of His Word shine brighter upon your life in Jesus name. This month, I shall focus on Capacity Development.
The Bible says, I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air (1 Corinthians 9:26). Let me start by defining what capacity development is.
What is Capacity Development?
It is the process by which individuals obtain, improve, and retain the skills, knowledge, tools, equipment and other resources needed to do their jobs competently. It also allows individuals to perform at a greater capacity. It simply means a process of growth. It suggests consistently up-grading your life. It also means moving towards a more advanced, organised state. From these definitions, we understand that development is not a point you arrive at, but a process. That is why you must keep working at improving the quality of your life, and consistently up-grading your life.
Though development means organisation, many of us are so disorganised, doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. I believe it is time to organise yourself and your life properly, before it is too late. Remember the adage that says, “Time and tide wait for no man”?
Capacity development is a must for everyone who wants to make his or her life count. That means it is not optional; it is compulsory and obligatory, if your life must count.
Biblical Truths for Capacity Development
Let me show you three foundational scriptures to buttress my point. Remember that the Bible says out of the mouth of two or more witnesses the truth is established. Hear what God told Moses in Exodus 14:15, And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel that they go forward.
As far as God is concerned, it is time for you to go forward. That is God’s commandment for you, not to anybody else, so you don’t think I am talking to somebody else. No, you! Go forward! You have been on the same spot for too long. You have probably been going round the mountain all this while. God says, “Go forward!” If you refuse to go forward or to develop yourself, then sudden mischief is inevitable (Deut. 2:1-3; Mic. 2:10).
Please know that it is too early in life for you to be sitting down, thinking that you have arrived! The journey is still on! Many whom we met in this race are still going forward, what are you doing sitting down at one spot?
The second foundational scripture is found in Proverbs 4:18, which says, But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. You will observe that the path of the just man being talked about here does not shine less and less, neither does it shine at the same level. Far from it! It shines more and more unto a perfect day. Therefore, God expects you and I to keep going forward, to keep getting more and more done, to refuse stagnation, but be determined for a forward movement. You will not be left behind in Jesus name!
The third scripture is found in Isaiah 32:9, Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.I want you to say to yourself, “I will arise! I will rise up to build capacity. You may be occupying some big position somewhere right now. You may even be very wealthy and have a big title, but you cannot afford to be careless. Whether you are a woman or man, until you arise God likens you to a careless daughter. Note that the careless never make life count. They sit at the same spot and watch life pass them by. But that will no longer be you in Jesus name!
To make your life count, you must first accept Jesus Christ into your life if you have not done so. If you will like to do this, please say this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today as a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose on the third day. Forgive me of my sins. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God. Today, I receive your love that will terminate loneliness in my life. Thank you, Jesus, for loving and accepting me. Amen.
