YOUR COMPORTMENT IS IMPORTANT (2)

YOUR COMPORTMENT IS IMPORTANT (2)

Hello Reader,

This teaching is informed by the fact that several people want to find a partner in marriage, but very few do. The reason is sometimes because of the presentation of the product. As a single desiring to meet and be attracted to the spouse of your dreams, you must be so well-packaged that you become irresistible on sight.

So far, I have examined two principal factors to consider. We began by examining the area of our thought. Until you think right, you can never be right. We also saw that your dressing sells your product. Your dressing is a reflection of your nature.

This week, I want to look at Your Carriage. A very interesting thing about the royal families of the earth is this, every prince and princess undergoes special trainings, where they are taught how to talk, walk and carry themselves in order to portray royalty. If you take a good look at the Queen of England, for instance, you will notice that her steps are majestic, her speech is calculated, her dressing smart and everything about her person reflects her royal status. Princesses are even taught how to conduct themselves as wives of royalty. They are not even expected to marry people who supposedly do not have “royal blood” in them.

The contestants at most beauty pageants cat walk up and down the stage. They are taught to carry themselves in a way befitting a queen and that carriage is a criterion for winning. If men go this length to reflect their status in life, how much more does God expect us to comport ourselves in such a way that we reflect the Christ in us.

Get Your Bearing Right!

Do you know that part of the beauty treatment that Esther and the other virgins went through was their bearing or their carriage? By bearing, I am talking about how you walk. It will interest you to know that how you walk says a lot about the kind of person you are. That means that your walk says a lot about your self-image. Your temperament can be read from your steps.  You can hardly find an intellectual, for instance, that is obese. He is too active to settle for heavy eating. He is always on the go and so do not have any problem with weight. From his carriage, you can tell his profession. He carries himself as someone who does not have time for petty talks. Even in his relaxed mood, he sits as one on the edge calculating every second of the day. The same is true of several other vocations.

When you see a frustrated person, you will see it reflected in the walk. From his walk, you can tell he has no bearing. He walks undecided. He goes left and then suddenly turns and begins to walk right. His eyes tell the story of his state of being. Slumped shoulders and dragging feet are reflective of a moody and heavy-hearted person. Sluggish steps are reflective of sluggish thoughts. Casual carriage reflects casual approach to life. No sense of purpose.

Are you insecure? You will walk provocatively to attract attention, seeking to always be at the centre of attraction because you are afraid someone may notice your insecurity. Sometimes, such a person constitutes himself/herself into a nuisance, instead of a friend. It becomes difficult for people to stay around you because you are ever so protective and defensive. The same is true for someone who is becoming very anxious about getting married. Particularly, some young ladies now look very haggard and appear older than their actual age, all because of anxiety. You know the difference in carriage between a mature unmarried man and a married man is very obvious. An unmarried man becomes kind of insecure and lacks confidence when he relates with people. But a married man carries himself with some form of confidence. The sense of accomplishment helps to boost his ego and he becomes surer of his steps and abilities.

The same goes for joy. The Bible talking about the essence of joy says in Joel 1:12: The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men. Everything dries up when joy is missing. But, when you are joyful, you bounce around as if there is a spring underneath your feet. Being merry provokes an attitude that makes you irresistible.

The Bible speaking in Jeremiah 31:4 says: Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry. Joy in your heart has a way of causing you to blossom and bloom. It refreshes you and makes you attractive. You are ever full of smiles. Your shoulders are never allowed to hang down. The joy of the Lord on your inside becomes infectious. People just want to be around you because there is an assurance that all their own sorrows will be drowned by the joy you carry. Your youth is renewed. With joy, you look younger than your age, your vitality is in top gear, and your approach to life makes you carry yourself in a manner that is attractive. That is the secret to remain attractive.

Don’t ever allow your mood to determine how you walk; rather, let your discovery in God’s Word do so. As far as God is concerned, no matter the situation, you are a creature of great value. God is mindful of you; so, walk tall! Lift up your head and straighten your shoulders! Restructure your walk to match God’s description of you. Walk with honour and dignity. Walk smartly to reflect good health and a sense of purpose. As you do, you are maximizing the grace of God in your life.

Joy is a fruit of the Spirit and the Holy Spirit is given in measures to those who have received the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour. Outside of the Holy Spirit, what you have is happiness and that is determined only by positive happenings around you. That is why happiness does not last. It is centered on an event and as soon as that event disappears, the happiness follows suit. But with joy, the Bible says: He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water John 7:38. It is a continuous flow that cannot be stopped.

You can gain access to this ceaseless flow of joy by praying this simple prayer with me, inviting Jesus Christ into your heart as your Lord and personal Saviour: ‘Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today as a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose on the third day.  Forgive me of my sins. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today.
