There is always joy in my heart writing with you in mind, because I know that these words are seeds that must bring forth great harvest in you. I believe you have been walking in the right kind of love since you read the last article. The essence of this is not only for you to learn what love really is, but to learn to walk in love and also receive the courage to walk out of every relationship that does not depict God’s kind of love.
Growing up as a young believer, I discovered that even though it was my desire to love the way God wanted me to as prescribed in Scriptures, it was difficult to do. This is because, people will definitely hurt you, there will always be a feeling to have your way at times and you most definitely will find it hard to put others first before yourself. However, as I kept growing in God and His Word, I discovered that it wasn’t in my power to love.
In fact, I needed a far greater force, the power of the Holy Spirit, if I must walk in love and also recognise when that love is given in return. The benefit of being a believer far supersedes what we think we know. It not only gives the best to us, but enables you to give out the best of you. And giving and receiving the God-kind of love is one of the best gifts ever. As the Bible says:
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity (1 Corinthians 13:13).
This is because God’s love never fails; it is all encompassing and reaches out to all areas of our lives. However, when you study the definition of love as compiled in the Scripture below, you realise that your desire to walk in love transforms you from within. The Bible says:
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth…(1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Without being regenerated within, with the evidence of the fruit of the Spirit at work in you, it is impossible to walk the God-kind of love. That is why the Bible says:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
My emphasis is on the word “gave” because, God first gave of Himself, from the abundance of what He is and that’s what characterizes His nature. The truth is: you cannot love someone else if you do not know or have love within you, especially for yourself. And the only way you can measure if you abide in love is by examining yourself critically with each of these characteristics. If you cannot boldly put your name against all of these attributes, then your love is incomplete.
If this is the case, then it should be your earnest desire to see that you build yourself in the areas you are lagging. The love-walk is a must for every believer. You must not only desire it, but you should take that desire further by working it out.
I constantly pray towards this accept of my Christianity. No one has gotten to the peak of it yet, so you can always grow in love. However, growing in love begins with a relationship with God and it advances as you advance in Him. The Bible says:
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Therefore, you move from one degree of love to the other, as you deepen your relationship with God. If you do not have a relationship with God yet, it begins by accepting Jesus as Lord and saviour. To do that, you need to confess and forsake your sins. Therefore, if you have not done that or you might have probably walked away from the vow you have made to Him in the past. You must say this prayer in faith right away:
Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I believe You died and rose again for my sake. Forgive me of my sins, take over my life, make me Your child and let Your peace reign over my life. Thank you for saving me. Now I know I am born again!
Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary.
