Dear Reader,

I feel delighted to welcome you to this wonderful time in God’s presence. This month shall be to you the beginning of months in Jesus’ name. Taming The Enemies Of A Peaceful Home is my focus this month. This week, I am going to identify two of the enemies of a peaceful home from God’s Word.

It is simply wonderful to know that marital success is yours by right; but it is equally amazing to know that success is no accident. You cannot stumble into it like a man fresh from sleep. Your adversary, the devil, will go all out to steal your peace which eventually leads to lack of success. Your enemy does not want to see you succeed in your marital life. However, the good news is that you can tame your enemy.

Satan is the enemy of everything good. Having lost access to goodness when he fell from heaven, he cannot stand anyone else enjoying good. He is envious of any good thing, so he goes about reversing the order of things. The Word of God says: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

God established marriage for the purpose of making life good for man. God confirmed that it was very good when He instituted marriage. The Word of God says: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no fickleness, neither (James 1:17).

It was not long after God declared that “It was very good,” that the enemy arrived on the scene. It was soon after God performed the wedding ceremony, and declared, “Behold Mr. and Mrs. Adam”, that Satan showed up.

People attribute the crisis in the homes to incompatibility or disagreements, but it is actually Satan who is behind the woes in families. He has determined to cause havoc in homes. He would do anything or pay any price to shatter a home (John 10:10). Quite a number of people, even in the Church, are victims of this satanic attack against families.

To counteract the activity of Satan against the family, Jesus’ first miracle was at a wedding ceremony in Cana of Galilee (John 2). The first thing Satan did was to destroy the family; the first miracle Jesus performed was to wipe away shame from the family. The Word of God says: The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

Satan’s mission of stealing, killing and destroying is first targeted at the home. The primary concern is how to steal the joy, peace and love that exist between couples. All his plan is on how to move the man against the woman, so that one of them would eventually move out of their home, the same way he drove Adam and Eve out of Eden. He still prowls around, looking for gullible people to drive away from their homes. That shall not be your portion in Jesus’ name.

Another Enemy Of A Peaceful Home Is Sin

The first requirement for a life of purity, is a departure from iniquity. It is interesting to know that the Bible places responsibility of departing on you and I. The Word of God says: Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal; The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:19). This does not mean to sit down and wait for iniquity to depart from you; but the onus rests on you to make a complete departure from whatever sin has been clinging on you.

The price of sin has been paid and sin no longer has dominion over you; so you can walk out on it. Remember, Christ did not shed His Blood for fun, He did so to provide you and I an eternal cleansing from sin. That is why you can be free in every area of your life. The Word of God says: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace (Romans 6:14).

Be sure that there is no sin in your life. Sin is one principal reason for lack of peace in the home. Sin will always rob you of the peace of God. The Bible however, makes it clear that sin is deceitful: But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin (Hebrews 3:13).

As a woman, you must not allow yourself to be deceived by sin any longer. Do you remember how Eve fell? The serpent deceived her through his subtlety. The Word of God says: But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3).

Sin crept in through womanhood, simply because she allowed herself to be deceived. Unfortunately, Satan has not changed; his tactics remain the same. He is still on the look-out for women to deceive; but thank God we have a choice in the matter. Eve lost her unique place to sin. It destroyed her destiny, and robbed her of a life of fulfillment. The devil got Eve, but he will not get you!

If you are born again and you still fall into sin, repent of it without delay and ask for forgiveness and cleansing (I John 1:9). Then you will have peace with God through Christ Jesus, and you can come into His presence without condemnation.

If you are not born again, you will not be acceptable before God, and there will be no escape from life of anxiety. You need to repent and appropriate the sacrifice Christ made for your sins or you will face the consequences of sin. To be born again, pray this prayer out loud:

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today as a sinner. I believe You died and rose on the third day for my sins. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your kingdom.

As for me I identify the third enemy of peaceful home as ‘the enemy within’ The Flesh. it is possible that one might be his own enemy
