TAKING FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (2)

Dear Reader,

True wealth does not come by winning a lottery or jackpot, or getting someone to leave an inheritance for you. It come through the little steps and planning you make towards your financial future. It comes through taking responsibility to secure a better and brighter tomorrow.

Responsibility is in actions. Financial irresponsibility, coupled with unholy crave for quick money has driven many youth and singles into all manner of vices. However, abiding by these simple but efficient money management techniques will make a whole lot of difference for you.

In the previous part of this edition, I have discussed about being accountable and learning to budget as some of the techniques for effective money management. In this edition, we will be considering some more:

  • Prioritizing your Spending: This means to put things in order of importance, so that you can deal with the most important ones first. You can prioritize your spending and maximize your income by drawing a scale of preference.

The truth is you can never exhaust your needs but there are those that must come before others. The Bible says: All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any (1 Corinthians 6:12).

Don’t just spend money as the need arise, else you would realize that you have spent your earnings on less important things while the important ones are left undone.

  • Shun Idleness: Your financial relevance and increase has a lot to do with your ability to engage in profitable ventures. Work enhances your worth. You must work to earn money because …he that gathereth by labour shall increase (Proverb 13:11).

There are many people who are lazy and idle today; they love to have and spend but never want to work for it. The Bible says: As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool (Jeremiah 17:11). This will not be you in Jesus’ name!

  • Investment and Savings: There is a seed in every income that you get. You must be disciplined not to eat both the fruit and the seed. Saving and investing is a sure way to secure a better tomorrow. Your seed is to be sown and the first place to sow your seed is in tithing.
  • Covenant Practice: To be distinguished financially, you have the responsibility to walk in the covenant. The quality of your covenant walk with God determines how buoyant you will be financially. It is written: If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures (Job 36:11).

Your covenant practice is an insurance against devourers like sickness, accident, failure etc., which are devices of satan to rob you of financial progress. Be consistent and diligent in paying your tithe, giving your offerings and other Kingdom investments and before you know it, you shall be financially distinguished.

Things to avoid

  • Covetousness: This is the excess desire to get things that others have at all cost. Covetousness is idolatry, so you must not be entangled with it (Luke 12:15).
  • Impulsive spending: This is the habit of making unplanned purchases. Beware of this, because it can wreck your finances.
  • Idleness and borrowing: Idleness can bury a man’s destiny, just as borrowing can turn him into a slave (Ecclesiastes 10:18; Proverbs 22:7). To manage your wealth, you must avoid them.
  • Comparison: You must avoid this to be a good manager of money. Don’t be deceived by other people’s achievements. You have your life to live so you must handle it with all sense of responsibility.

In case you have taken one of these as a habit, I decree your liberty today in the name of Jesus Christ! Congratulations and welcome to your season of financial positive turnaround!

However, financial prosperity would be more meaningful and lasting if you are born again. This means accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour of your life, by confessing and forsaking your sins. Therefore, if you have not done that or you might have probably walked away from the vow you have made to Him in the past, you must say this prayer in faith right away:

Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I believe You died and rose again for my sake. Forgive me of my sins, take over my life, make me Your child and let Your peace reign over my life. Thank you for saving me.  Now I know I am born again!

Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name!  Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org and pstfaithoyedepo@gmail.com, OR call 07026385437 and 08141320204.
