My mouth is filled with praise and thanksgiving to God Almighty, I sincerely welcome you to this glorious year where Heaven on Earth will be your experience with God on a daily basis. He has seen you through last year and now, here you are, face to face with the beginning of another glorious year. God’s Word has gone forth concerning you and so, expect that everything will begin to turn positively in your favour.
The older I get, the more I believe that there should be some kind of gentleness and quietness exhibited in every woman. I have always thought that it adds to one’s beauty and I continuously exercise myself to be slow to speak. If I must speak, I try to ensure my words are filled with grace with God’s help. So, any time I come across a woman who talks or behaves without discretion, I cringe, especially if she is married because I can only imagine what her husband, and perhaps children, may have to deal with.
No man wants a wife whose mouth has no boundaries; such a woman will be prone to gossiping about, and with others, backbiting, nagging, being quarrelsome and ultimately showing her husband no respect and honour, thereby bringing crisis into the home.
One of my favorite scriptures is in 1 Peter, and it tells us about the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit being of great price to God (1 Peter 3:4); and that verse comes after we, the women are advised not to pay too much attention to our outward appearance but to be more concerned about the inner man. I believe that should be practiced by every woman because, no matter how beautiful a woman may be, the words of her mouth will either taint or enhance her beauty & it will either build up or tear down those around her.
As a wife and mother, your attitude determines the happenings in the home; and your beauty can easily get lost in all the filthiness associated with any negative behavior. Proverbs 11:22 paints the best picture; it says: As a jewel of gold in a swines snout, so is a beautiful woman which is without discretion. The first time I saw that scripture, it entered my spirit and has remained there till date. That means that if a gold ring were in a pig’s nose, it wouldn’t be very pretty because the filth that we associate pigs with will quickly taint the beauty of the ring. I am quite sure no one will find such an image appealing.
Well, that is exactly how God feels about any woman who is not discreet, and does not guard her mouth and actions. This is so important because the mouths (and actions) of many women have brought their homes to ruin. Remember that Jesus was meek and lowly, that is why God exalted Him to the highest place.
All you need to do is always ask God for wisdom to be evident in your actions and in every word that you speak. Don’t use the fact that your spouse or your children may be difficult; therefore you feel your negative actions should be justified. Such an attitude will not be acceptable to God.
As a woman, whether single or married, no matter the situation, the next time you find yourself tempted to gossip, slander, disrespect, quarrel, etc, remind yourself that if you fall for that temptation, you look exactly like a pig! I believe that should be enough to stop you; it’s definitely more than enough to keep me in check. Nothing would be allowed to taint my beauty or associate me with pigs. I am more than determined to ensure that my beauty is not just on the outside but is more evident in my inner man. The grace to make that your reality is yours in abundance!
To maintain your inner and outward beauty, grace is required. Grace from God will only be released on those who have a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. He will release abundant help upon you when you confess your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. That way, you will be saved. If you are ready to be saved, please say this prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. I can’t help myself. Forgive me of my sins. From today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me. Now, I know I am born again.”
