SCRIPTURAL GUIDE FOR PARENTING
Parenting can be a challenging venture, but at the same time it is the most rewarding and fulfilling work to embark on. The Bible has a great deal to say about the way we can successfully raise our children to be men and women of God in this present world of immoralities. However, the first step to becoming a good parent is teaching and planting the seed of the word of truth written in the Bible. As parents we strive to feed our children with earthly delicacies for them to look healthy and smart, but I want to assure you that the best and most profitable meal to feed your children with is the spiritual meal which is the word of God. Nevertheless, we have to make it a point of duty to read the scriptures daily for our children, give them daily assignments to learn at least one scripture daily. we should also compel them to recite it as many times as possible. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates ( Deuteronomy 6:7-9).This passage emphasizes this as an instruction from God. It should be done at all times—at home, on the road, at night, and in the morning. Biblical truth should be the foundation of our homes; by following the principles of these commands, we should always teach our children that worshiping God should be constant, not reserved for Sunday mornings or nightly prayers.
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. (Ephesians 5: 21)
Children learns fast and in most cases they learn what they see, as parents, we have to be careful of what we say, or do, we are under obligation from the word of God to work in love as a husband and wife. God has established the role of everyone in the family; the wife is to submit to the husband’s authority and respect him while the husband is to love the wife just as Christ loves the church. The Bible emphasizes that everyone should submit to each other according their roles and this in turn teaches our children order. Where the couple is not submitting to each other, the family loses its orderliness and this often leads to strive and rancor, but where each one masters his/her roles there is orderliness and control. Emphatically whatever seed you sow you will reap, Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7). I pray today that you will sow the seed of orderliness in your family today in Jesus name
Father, thank you for my family and the children you have given to me. Lord grant me the grace for me to maintain my role as a parent, and help my children to maintain orderliness, I rebuke the spirit of strive, and disorderliness and he has fled off my children, they will grow in the love and truth that is in the word of God in Jesus name Amen.
