REDEEMING YOUR TIME (2)
Dear reader,
It is interesting to let you know that God is interested about the times and season of your life; however, He has brought this timely subject ‘Redeeming Your Time’ to espouse the importance of maximising opportunities. Today, I will be teaching on the second edition of this series ‘How to Redeem Your Time’.
The devil knows that the vital and most important asset of man is time, that is why he always devices means to steal it. John 10:10 made this clear, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Time is a tool; so, it can be manipulated, shared, divided and saved. Time is our most valuable resource. If we learn how to control and use it wisely, we will make our output both spiritually, physically, relationally, financially to count. Time automatically by default give us what we put into it. Don’t spend your time on frivolities, invest your time wisely, because it is the currency for purchasing a formidable life. Remember, life is too short and should be spent well doing the right things. Time is the most valuable asset in life. You can recover any money spent through hard work and diligence, but you cannot recover time spent. Remember, every second gone is a part of your life gone and can never be recovered.
Booker T. Washington said, ‘Success in life is founded upon attention to the small things rather than to the large things’.
ENEMIES OF TIME
As time is the currency of life, there are also some factors that torment time. They are:
Procrastination: Procrastination has overtime robbed many people of opportunities which would be wasted doing unprofitable things. Ashley Orman said, ‘You can’t make up for time spent but you can do better in the future’.
Uncertain Objectives: You can only waste time and energy following a man who is yet to define his objectives in life. However, when the objectives are uncertain; one end up wasting time.
Depression: Research has shown that the amount of time and energy spent wallowing in depression when put into work produces greater results. Isaiah 40:31 reiterates this fact thus, But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they will run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Deviated Focus: The rise of the current Covid-19 pandemic the world is facing today has forced the focus of many to deviate. Many have focused their attention on television and social media; watching and seeing through the headlines to know what seems to be happening around the world.
TIPS FOR REDEEMING YOUR TIME THIS SEASON
Wake Up Early: Research has shown that early mornings are usually peaceful and more productive. However, early risers tend to accomplish more each day. Do not give excuses with the current lockdown in almost all parts of the world by oversleeping.
Set Daily Realistic Goals: Set goals that are realistic and productive each day, insist on accomplishing it within the set time given to it.
Read Something Positive: Charles Spurgeon says, ‘Serve God by doing common actions in a heavenly spirit, and then, if your daily calling only leaves you cracks and crevices of time, fill them up with holy service’. Start up your day with the Word of God, anointed books and positive materials to light up your day.
Accomplish Something: You can start up a project which has been pending a long time, such as writing a journal, book, poem or learning new skills. Seek to utilise this opportunity because it may never come again and the project you were able to accomplish will be a reminder of this season for you.
Give to Someone: Seek to utilise this opportunity to reach out to as many people as you can, family members, friends, neighbours, etc. You can devote to give time, appreciation, care, gifts and food items.
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin, pride, arrogance and self-pity and all the lies of satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom, in Jesus name! Amen.
