MAKE YOUR LIFE COUNT (1)
Dear Reader,
I welcome you to this special month. I pray that it shall be a month with loads of blessings and testimonies for you and your family, in Jesus name! This month, we shall be considering a dynamic topic that determines one’s relevance and placement in life, which is your potential that makes life count. The Bible says, A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. God has placed unique and dynamic potentials in His entire creature; so, it is your responsibility to search them out. As it is written, And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey (Matthew 25:15).
Today, many teenagers believe that only a few people have potentials or only those from a particular region are destined to be great. But that is a lie from the pit of hell. God gave everyone potentials, including you. This month, I will be having an in-depth study on how to discover your potentials.
What Is Potential?
According to the English dictionary, potential is defined as someone’s ability to develop, achieve or succeed. There are inherent abilities domiciled in every living creature waiting for expression so as to become who God want us to be. The Bible says, For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God (Romans 8:19).
The discovery of your identity is the utmost approach to maximising your potentials. Your identity is basically who you are. Everyone was created with a unique identity. Manufacturers all over the world design products with their name on it signifying the authenticity of the product. Such products have some of the following characteristics: the unique name of the product, the reason for creating it and the range of functionalities of the product.
No two persons have the same identity; everyone is unique one way or the other. However, self-discovery is the first step to living a life of impact and fulfilment. Until you understand who you are and discover your potentials, you may never live up to your highest capabilities. Moreover, you may die without achieving what you are created for. That is, you may die without using your gifts to bless the world.
To start with identifying yourself, you need to answer the following questions:
- What do I really enjoy doing?
- What are my passions?
- What am I in this world for and what do I want to achieve in my lifetime?
- How would I like to be remembered?
- What will matter most at the end of my life? Is it what I am doing right now?
You have the potentials to become what you have been designed to be. But, it is your personal responsibility to discover them and work with them to create your world. Everyone has some unique set of abilities, skills, talents and gifts that can place them before kings if they utilise these potentials effectively.
Your potentials are the tools with which you create value for your world. They are your raw materials for building your dreams. With them, you can trade with the rest of the world and eventually create wealth for yourself. Your potentials are the seeds of greatness that will eventually grow into trees of value; they define you in so many ways. Thus, living life without understanding your potentials can be likened to wasting your entire time on earth which I pray shall not be your portion in life, in Jesus name!
Your philosophy (mindset) goes a long way in determining your success in life. Your mindset simply refers to the way you think, and the way you think can dictate the level of success you achieve all through life. Everyone has a particular approach to thinking including the beggars on the street. For example, rich people today are rich because they think and act in a way that is consistent with making wealth.
Wealth does not just fall on people. Even if 10 million naira was to fall on a person with poverty mindset, the person will waste the money in a matter of months. On the other hand, if 500 thousand naira is given to someone with wealthy mindset, that person will multiply it because of the way he/she thinks! As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). Your philosophy will always restrict the level of success that your life can accommodate. Therefore, it is important to constantly reject the philosophy of disaster that most people entertain and embrace the philosophy of success. Continuously monitor the way you think and ensure that your thoughts are always in the direction of success.
Nothing is more important than using your limited time and energy on earth to do the things you love and enjoy. But all of these cannot be possible without the help of the Holy Spirit. It is written, I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live (Deuteronomy 30:19).
You cannot have the Holy spirit without being born again. If you are not yet born again and you desire to do so right now, please pray this prayer with faith in your heart: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I believe You died and rose again for my sake. Forgive me my sins, take over my life, make me Your child and let Your peace reign over my life. Thank you for saving me. Now I know I am born again!
Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus name! Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through oyedepofaitha@gmail.com, 07026385437 OR 08141320204.
