Dear Reader,
You are welcome to the second half of this great month. I started this month on personal hygiene, and have discussed with you on what it means, some aspect of your body that needs special attention and how you can keep those areas clean at all times. In this edition, I shall be dwelling more on the subject at hand, but on environmental hygiene.
I will be exposing you to the importance of keeping your environment clean. Hygiene is a habit of maintaining cleanliness and it is what you should learn for yourself. It is the promotion of continuous healthy standards, which would not only be of benefit to you, but to those around you. These healthy standards include caring for your home, toilets and environment in general.
Your environment: It is the first access people have into your home. This is what welcomes them into your personal space, and most people can form their opinion about you based on what they see around. For instance, when you come to visit a friend and the first thing you meet is smelling stagnant water in front of the house, it puts you off. You begin to imagine without entering how the inside would look like. However, if your first contact with the house is a well Kemp front-yard, trimmed lawn and well cut garden, you are assured that the living room would be well arranged.
Living Room: Also, as a teenager you need to know how to take care of the house. Now, this has nothing to do with your gender. Whether you are male or female, you must learn to sweep, mop the floor, arrange items in their proper position, lay the bed when you wake up or before you sleep and generally care for the outlook of your home. Your home is you, and it is what you make of it that others see.
Toilet: There should be routine cleaning of the toilet. It could be ones a week or twice in a month, depending on the number of people using it. When doing this you must look out for the toilet seats and flush handles, door and tap handles, work surfaces, bath and basin surfaces. Water which can promote the formation of germs could be stored there after use, so you must clean with special attention.
Kitchen: What goes into the mouth is important to your health. This aspect of your home determines how healthy you will be. Learn to keep all plates, cutleries, pots and cups washed and dried. Avoid having left-overs for days unattended to, always empty your bins and learn to mop regularly with antiseptics.
Bathroom: Wash regularly to prevent your bathroom from been slippery, scally and dirty. Also prevent stagnant water from storing there, so you would not have insects tormenting your home. Regularly rinse with plenty of water after every bath.
Keeping your homes clean promotes your health, because it keeps mosquitoes and other pest harmful to living, away from you. This will prevent the spread of germs and bacterial that causes illness, disease and infections. It also gives you the comfort and safety you deserve in your home. Practicing the habit of keeping your home or environment clean is a culture that you should carry all through life. It influences how you and others perceive you to be and can influence your level of confidence and self-esteem which can affect all aspects of your lives.
However, it is God that gives you the wisdom to live healthy. He said in 3 John 2 that He wishes above all things that you prosper and be in health, but you need to accept Him first as your Lord and personal Saviour to enjoy this health. To accept Him right now, please say this prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the living God. I believe You died for me and on the third day, You rose that I might be justified. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.
Congratulations! You are now born-again and a child of God. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name. Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org, and counselling@faithoyedepo.org; Or 07026385437 and 08141320204.
