Dear Reader,

Welcome to this blessed and exciting month! You might be wondering what makes the month exciting. It’s our liberation month! This means that the mandate that birthed this website is 35. So, God is set to dazzle you with awesome testimonies far beyond your imagination to reenact the liberation mandate. The Bible says:

…Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (1 Corinthians 2:9).

You have proved your love for God through your obedience to His Word, He will add unto you that which you never imagined to have. However, one major factor by which you can receive and retain God’s blessings on your life this month is through your efforts in personal advancement. Therefore, this month I will be teaching on the topic: Personal Development.

What is Personal Development?

It means a consistent and conscious upgrading of your life, as it relates to your skills, knowledge, spiritual growth, etc. It means moving towards a more advanced and organized state of life and living. One reason why it is personal is that the initiative and steps to develop solely comes from you. No one can and will develop you on your behalf.

The zeal to develop is one major difference between the successful and unsuccessful. While one thinks of how to survive, the other thinks advancement. For everyone who wishes to live a life of worth and relevance, personal development is mandatory. God has not ordained you to be stagnant, it is His will that you advance in every area of endeavor, no matter your past achievements (Proverbs 4:18). Also, the Bible says of you that:

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid (Matthew 5:14).

For you to be and retain your position as the light of the world, you need to constantly seek personal development. Life is programmed for growth and development, but if you are careless about it you might end up being stagnant.

Also, you must know that every stage of development requires adequate labour. You must labour to attain anything meaningful in life. Someone rightly said that if you can’t fly you run, if you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl, but by all means keep moving. What this means is that at every stage, you must seek to move forward at whatever cost. It is expedient that you grow at all times.

But, Why Personal Development?

  • For the release of your potentials. Everyone has a gift or a talent. Mine is different from yours. But to succeed and be the best at it, you must continuously develop that gift. Remember the parable of the talent, those who traded (developed) theirs had an increase and were rewarded, but the one that hid he’s, lost it (Matthew 25:14-29). You will not lose yours in the name of Jesus Christ!
  • To keep to terms with the ever changing world. The world is constantly changing. The style and pattern of things keep getting better. Technology is changing and so is almost everything. If you must remain abreast, then you must develop. No one wants to deal with an obsolete person. Therefore, to remain relevant, you must seek ways to constantly advance at what you do (Proverbs 4:18).
  • To prevent stagnation. You are either developing or you are stagnant. However, you must know that stagnant water stink. And everything that stinks is undergoing a stage of decay. So, in other not to stink/decay, you must advance.
  • Development prevents destruction. For instance, when a car is abandoned for years, the engine becomes useless and when an engine is non-functional it will eventually shut down. Like that car, you also have an engine in you. If that engine is abandoned or underused, it gets destroyed. Your talent will not be destroyed in the name of Jesus Christ!

Therefore, remind yourself always that if you don’t move from where you are right now and at the appropriate time, you might become obsolete or stagnant. So, make the choice to always advance no matter your present attainment.

However, personal development goes beyond you making a decision to grow in studies, career or skills, you most importantly have to make the decision to grow spiritually. This begins by accepting Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour. If you have not done this before or may have walked away from your decision to serve God, then you should say this prayer in faith:

Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I believe You died and rose again for my sake. Forgive me of my sins, take over my life, make me Your child and let Your peace reign over my life. Thank you for saving me.  Now I know I am born again!

Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name!  Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org, OR call 07026385437 and 08141320204.
