MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR POSITION (1)
Happy New Month! It is a privilege to bring God’s Word to you again in this eleventh month and I believe God has something new for you. Receive grace to walk in the light of His Word as He unveils it to you in this series in Jesus name. I will be teaching on the topic: Making the most of your position.
And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof (Genesis 2:21)
What God did at creation clearly reflects the position of the woman in the home. He took a rib from the side of the man and formed the woman. The Fact that the bone was not extracted from Adams head tells you that the man’s position as head is incontestable. Also, the fact that the bone was not taken from Adam’s feet proves that the wife is not to be trodden down as a slave. God expects that just as the Church is subject to Christ, so also women should be in subjection to their husband in everything.
Understanding and occupying your place as a woman in the home will bring about a successful family life. The problem in many homes is that women wants to assume the role of the man, it cannot work! Let your husband exercise his God-given authority over you as the head of the home.
You must recognise that: You are a help meet: The Bible places emphasis on this position for wives. And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him (Genesis 2:18). It is amazing to know that the Bible refers to God as our helper. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me (Hebrews 13:6). The fact that the same word is used to qualify a woman means that God designed the woman to help the man fulfill all God’s plans for them to be. What a great privilege and responsibility that God has given you.
As a woman, are you occupying your position? In Luke 19:13 the scripture says And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
To make the most of this wonderful position in which God has placed you as a woman there are vital qualities you must possess. Come along with me as we examine some of them.
One of the primary qualities you must acquire so you can function successfully as a wife is love. The scripture clearly declares: God is love! Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love (1 John 4:7-8).
As a born-again child of God, you have this potential in you. Love is one of the seeds that was deposited in us at the point of salvation. You are born of the Spirit and that Spirit is the Spirit of God which is the Spirit of love. Apart from having the nature of God to love, the Bible says: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1: 7). All you need to do is to draw it out and make use of it. Stir it up. You are being Godly by loving.
You must be prayerful. The physical world is controlled by and from the spiritual realm; and prayer is the means of controlling the physical from the spiritual realm. The scripture says: While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18). As a woman, you can create a good family atmosphere through prayer and a good atmosphere makes for a successful home.
Dedication simply means to be committed to someone or something, giving yourself to services completely that is; to be sold out to something. You must be dedication to God and your spouse. Not much can be achieved in any area of life without dedication. My husband once said: “Dedication is the mother of Distinction.” This is very true. Every distinction is traceable to dedication. Whatever you are not dedicated to, you cannot be distinguished in. Except you are totally dedicated to your husband and the children as a help meet, you cannot be fruitful as a woman.
Faithfulness means doing what you are expected to do correctly without supervision. Faithfulness is like a driving force that enables you fulfill your responsibilities as a wife, with ease. The future of the faithful is guaranteed and her rising unlimited. And I am talking about faithfulness both to God and to your husband. How faithful are you? Until you’re faithful in a little, the future of the much you desire can never become a reality. Some wives, would only do what is expected when their husband is around. Read what the Bible says here:
Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his Lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion or meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing! (Luke. 12:42)
Relationship begins with your manner of approach. To build a good relationship, you must be approachable; not moody or tight faced. Let people know you for your warm and welcoming nature. You must be able to relate easily, quickly and in a charming manner with your husband and others. Abigail would not have won the love of David but for her good countenance. The Bible says: Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance (1 Samuel 25:3). For your marriage to go well, you must not focus on wrong perceptions and negative surmising. Moodiness destroys marriage relationships; long ‘facedness’ makes you unattractive.
Do you wish to make the most of your position in your home?, then you have to invite Jesus into your marriage to be the center of the home. You need to be born again. This is done by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. If you are already born again, rejoice because your case is settled. If you are not yet born again and you desire to do so right now, please pray this prayer with faith in your heart: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.
Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).
