In the first two parts of this series, we discussed a couple things. First we discussed what praise is, what love powered praise is, and then we looked in-depth at three of the proofs of love which power your praise.
In this segment, we would look at the last proof of love and then the benefits of this love- powered praise.
I pray that the spirit of understanding comes to our aid today and shows us what we need to do to improve on this love we have for God, even this hour, in Jesus name.
Now, the last proof that we’d be discussing is “if you love God, you’ll love to give.”
To prove the love God has for us, He did something significant; He gave. And He gave the one thing that was most important to Him- He gave His son. He gave His son for you and I; only for you and I. That is very profound, as you and I are NOT worthy.
Let’s take a look at this account, shown to us in the book of John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
In the above scripture, we see that God GAVE– just so anyone who let Him come into their lives- may have life and have it forever. Do you know what that means? He gave His best just for (hopefully) our maybes? Do you see?
The ALL-MIGHTY God gave us the opportunity to live forever and enjoy the best of life but He’s the one who had to make the sacrifice? I can tell you that I for one am not deserving. But I’m so glad He did it. God showed his love through his giving and so it shows that giving is an indisputable proof of love.
In Genesis 22, Abraham proved his love for God through his giving.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
As you can see, God asked Abraham to sacrifice his one loved son, and because of Abraham’s doggedness for God, He didn’t hesitate. He was willing to prove his love through not just mere giving, but through sacrifice.
We also see that love is in degrees.
Abraham absolutely loved his son Isaac, but he loved God more and that made it a lot easier for him to do what God asked. He was willing to give until he gave himself and this showed his love for God.
My father always says that if Sarah were aware of what Abraham was planning to do, perhaps she would have woken up earlier and killed Abraham herself. She’d have done whatever she had to do protect her son, haha.
But back to the point, Abraham’s love for God showed through his giving and He in turn was blessed beyond measure for his act of love. This can be seen further down in the Genesis 22 chapter.
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
This brings us to the benefits of love- powered praise.
Not just of love for God but of love powered praise.
1. Divine greatness and acceleration
A perfect example to cite here is King David. In Psalm 119:164, King David said Seven times a day do I praise you because of your righteous judgments and up until this day, the name “King David” still speaks.
My family and I were in Israel a couple years ago and we were able to see the tomb of David which many are still able to visit today. He wasn’t just another citizen but was a King, whose name still speaks volumes. That is what praise does. It gives you greatness that cannot be explained.
I pray that today, as we work towards showing our love through praise, greatness that cannot be explained becomes our portion in Jesus name.
2. Divine strength
In Habakkuk 3, the Bible says 18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.
In times of praise, your strength is replenished. So when you are “too tired” and feel you need strength the most, praise is the answer. It renews your strength, and then you mount up on wings like the eagle. You are strengthened such as the eagle we described in our previous series and who doesn’t want that?
We also see greatness and acceleration again as a benefit of praise in the second part of verse 19 above.
From all three segments on love- powered praise which we have so far studied, we see how important this form of praise is, where it originates from, some of its proofs, and also its benefits.
I have looked at the above in more detail than I have any other topics so far since beginning segments on this website, www.faithoyedepo.org, and this is because like my father says, “you don’t know my secret until you have discovered my heartbeat for God.” Loving God is the key to all of life’s benefits and I pray that beginning today, the love of God floods your heart like never before, and you begin to experience an outpouring of His love in Jesus name.
May His love live in you, live through you, and shine around you.
JNW: Show someone the love of God today. If there’s only one seat left on the bus, give it to someone else. When there’s space for just one person left on the elevator, give it to someone else. Show the love of God to someone around you today.
God bless you richly!
