Laying a Sure Foundation

Dear Reader,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am glad to let you know that there is so much good for you in your homes, families, in the lives of your spouses, children, business, finance and careers this year. Our God is good! I am full of excitement as I prepare this edition, because of the great and mighty things God has in store for you in your families this year. It is a year that is so loaded and full of fat things.

It is a year when things will happen on their own accord, to the beauty of our homes. For you to enter into the blessings of God for you this New Year, you must be ready to lay a sure foundation, which determines the height of your building. The Word of God says: If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3). A building is only as good as its foundation.  That is why some buildings collapse, in spite of their beautiful architectural designs. There is nothing that can really substitute the need for a solid foundation. The success of your marriage and family life hinges on the quality of your foundation.  That is why today, I want to discuss on: Making A Resolution to Depart From Iniquity.

To have a sure foundation this New Year, it is important for you to really depart from iniquity. We all know that the foundation of a building is the most crucial aspect of it.  No matter how glorious a building is, if its foundation is faulty, then it does not stand a chance in the face of a storm.  The Word of God says: Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:19).

The only thing that will hinder God’s blessing in your marriage and family this year is sin. Sin is a destroyer of destiny. Your destiny shall never be destroyed in Jesus’ name!  Sin robs many families of the blessing of God. In fact, it has robbed many families of their true place in life.

As a family, you need to do away with sin and live a righteous life. Righteousness is the sure foundation upon which a life of distinction is built. Until this is in place, life remains an endless struggle. We live in a world of sin. Sin has become the order of the day and the way of life. Those who will stand out this year and those who will care to embrace purity, are those who will see God this year because it impossible to be in sin and expect to see God.  The Word of God says: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8).

If you really want to see God’s intervention and manifestations in your life, marriage and family this year, it is time for you to clean up and return to God. The Word of the Lord says: And the Lord said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes (Exodus 19:10).

The first requirement for a life of purity is a departure from iniquity. It is interesting for you to know that the Bible places the responsibility of departing on you and I.  You can’t sit down and wait for iniquity to depart from you; the onus rests on you to make a complete departure from whatever sin that has been ravaging your Christian colour.  The Word of God says: For sin shall not have dominion over you… (Romans 6:14). The price for sin has been paid.  You need to make your choice whether to depart or to remain in sin.  The Word of God says: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? (Romans 6:1).

I want you to know that Jesus Christ did not shed His Blood for fun; He did so to provide you and I an eternal cleansing from sin.  I want to say here that as a woman, you must not allow yourself to be deceived by sin. Do you remember how Eve fell?  The serpent deceived her through his subtlety.  You have been warned seriously by the Word of God.  The Word of God says: But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3).

Sin crept into the world through womanhood because Eve allowed herself to be deceived. Unfortunately, satan has not changed his tactics.  He is still looking out for women to deceive, but he cannot get you.  Eve lost her unique place to sin.  It destroyed her destiny, and robbed her of a life of fulfilment. The devil got Eve, but he will not get at you!

The moment sin came, it birthed evils.  One of the evils that manifested after sin was selfishness.  When God came into the garden and asked Adam why he had transgressed His command not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam blamed Eve.  Then God turned and asked, “What is this that thou hast done?” And Eve shifted the blame, “The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” That is selfishness!

Many homes have been broken because nobody wants to give preference to the other.  The man is selfish, the woman is selfish, and the children are selfish! All each person thinks about is, “Me, Myself and I.” This even reflects in the kind of prayers they say, “Lord, bless me, remember me with favour, help me to succeed.  Well, if you care to remember others, not bad, but if not, still don’t forget me.”

It is a known fact that humanity was corrupted through a woman, but God in His infinite mercy also chose to bring redemption to mankind through a woman.  So, womanhood (or the feminine nature) is not an excuse to live in sin.  Every woman can choose either to be a Mary or an Eve, whether to live an impure life or not. The ball is actually in your court!

A sure foundation begins with departing from iniquity.  Are you born again? If not, you can make a resolution right now to depart from sin.  You can say this prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today as a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. I believe You died and rose on the third day for my sins.  I accept You as my Lord and Saviour.  Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”

Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you in Jesus’ Name! Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org; OR 07026385437 and 08141320204.

    Dear Mama,

This is a great article! God bless you.

No one can serve God effectively in the energy of the flesh. The many joys I experience has had no bounds since I caught light from Phillipians 2:13!!! It says ” For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of hos good pleasure”

Since then I do not struggle to serve God because He is the one doing the work – and not me. All I needed to do was to yield myself completely to him – my spirit, soul and body.

And like the title of this article, my decision to depart from iniquity has made my work with God sweeter.

Thank you for being a blessing to me.

May the Almighty bless you and your entire family a hundred fold. Amen.
