Dear Reader,

Peace in Jesus Name! I welcome you to another interesting time in the study of Gods Word. Be imparted in Jesus name!  Today, we are exploring the subject: Keep your Focus.

Focus is defined as the center of interest or activity. One major challenge that many youth and singles face today is inability to maintain focus and another is focusing on wrong things. The Scripture says in Proverbs 4:25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. You lose ability to focus as distraction becomes a habit. You must learn to practice concentration by turning off all distractions to give attention to you tasks.

Understand that focus is key to success in any given task and the devil will try very hard to break your it.  If he succeeds in blurring your focus, then he can mar your life. According to Mike Murdock: “The only reason men fail is broken focus”- Distractions abound during singles years, with many issues calling for your attention. As someone rightly said, “If you don’t set direction for your life, distractions will set it for you”. You have the right to do everything, but not everything is beneficial to you (1 Corinthians 10:23). Therefore, concentrate on what is important.

You must realise that no one can be focused for you. It is a responsibility that you have to take up if you want to attain success in life. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. (Mathew 6:22)

It is not just enough to maintain focus. However, it is important to be focused on the right things. We shall consider areas where focus must be maintained.

  1. Focus on God: God must be you first and primary focus in life. God is your creator, your ultimate source and the custodian of your future. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Mathew 6:33). You cannot make God first and end up last in life. God is committed to adding all other things to you when you make Him your priority. Let your focus be on God and the things of God. Focus on His Word and watch how He turns you into a wonder to your world.
  2. Focus on you Vision: God has a plan and purpose for everyone He created. Vision is the unfolding of God’s plan for an individual’s life. Discover His vision for your life and run with it. And the Lordanswered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it (Habakkuk 2:2)
  3. Focus on your goal: Everyone who is going somewhere in life has a goal. Goal is the object of a person’s ambition or effort, an aim or desired result. For example, you can set goal for improving your skills on your job, furthering your education etc. Find the best godly way to achieve your goal and commit to it. You may start small; maybe five minutes per day and increase the time as time goes on time. If you find your mind wandering, just return to the task at hand. Make sure you maintain your focus until your goal is attained.

The first step to maintaining a focused life is to have Jesus in your life. If you will like to do this, please say this prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today as a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose on the third day.  Forgive me of my sins. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today”.
