In this edition, I will be listing out vital tips you can rely on during your waiting season to know you are not neglected by God. This will enable you overcome the threats and skims of the devil and guarantee you peace and rest in the perfect will of God for your life concerning every issue of life.

Important Tips to Remember as a Young Christian in God’s Perfect Timing

You Are Called to Stand Out

If you are a Christian and have been saved through the death of Jesus Christ, you have been called to an exemplary lifestyle. God wants you to honour Him by living a life that pleases Him and follow His leading and timing. This includes putting God first in all you do, not your friends/family. Remember Romans 12:2 states, And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. As you grow in your Christian walk with God, you are meant to look less like your “worldly” friends and counsellors, to be more like Jesus through the help of the Holy Spirit. This way, you will stand out and when people look at you, they will identify you as a Christian. The Holy Spirit is our divine Helper; John 14: 26 clearly states: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. The Holy Spirit will help you stand firm till it is your perfect time, and the manifestation of your wait will be visible to all. Standing out for God fast-tracks your waiting period so as to prepare you for your glorious destiny in Christ. So, hold on, don’t lose faith, God’s perfect time is worth the wait!

You Are Not Alone

Do not see yourself as being alone when you cannot agree with your friends and family; especially when they don’t see the need for your wait. They might want to isolate, withdraw or disassociate with you; however, do not be discouraged, feel lonely and left out, your testimony will be worth the sacrifice. Also, do not forget that Jesus also was pressured and tempted. The devil also tested Him to see if he would succumb to his pressure, but Jesus stood strong in faith, having a full assurance/knowledge of His glorious destiny in God. Hebrews 2:18 states: For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted. When you are tempted to give in to peer pressure, and anxiety, be confident that Jesus knows how you feel; He stood firm, and with His help, you can be strengthened to resist the devil. The Holy Spirit is your great counsellor, He teaches us all things, He will counsel and succor you when you need Him. He is the best confidant and companion you can ever ask for. Seek to be in a cordial relationship with Him.

Nevertheless, do not act naïve and timid, be willing to share such challenges, because there is wisdom and safety in multitude of counsels as the Bible admonished in Proverbs 11:14: Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. Always seek godly counsel, do not hide your worries and pressures. Be open to a trusted godly and more experienced person, which could be your pastor in Church or an older sibling; they would be willing to put you through this difficult time. You are not alone there is always someone willing to listen and give you necessary guidance.

If you have in the past neglected God’s perfect timing for you, or have tried to do things your way due to impatience or pressure, realize that God still has a much bigger plan for you and He is willing to transform your story if you can just return to Him and trust His leading. God already has provisions for your glorious future, 1 John 1:9 states: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If you have during your wait offended God, it is important to ask for forgiveness. He is willingly and ready to forgive you.

Receiving grace to wait for God’s perfect timing for your life, as well as knowing when the answers come, begins with salvation. This means accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of your life. If you have not done this or may have withdrawn from your initial decision to follow Jesus, you should say this prayer in faith:

Father, I realise that I have been a sinner. Today I believe you died and rose on the third day redeeming me from all my sins. Now I accept you lord, save me and accept me as your child, write my name in the book of life Thank You Father for saving me in Jesus’ Name.
