You are welcome to another edition of Youth and Singles, where all that matters to the Youth and the Singles are discussed elaborately. Throughout this month, I shall be deliberating on Getting Set For Marriage. There are many single men and women, who want to get married but are not sure of what to do to make it happen.

Today, I want to ask you this very important question: Are you really set for marriage?

Let me show you some basic requirements for getting set for marriage:

Seek First the Kingdom of God

In getting set for marriage, you must position yourself to seek God and His Kingdom first. Get actively involved in the service of God.  Be available whenever there is a programme in church and always attend the singles meetings, and outreaches. Your purpose as a single should be to serve the Lord without stress. God’s Word says: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). This verse of scripture points out what your focus should be, if you want to enjoy all the things that life and salvation has to offer. If your purpose for living is not to serve the Lord, then you don’t have the right purpose for living.

There are many areas in which you can render service to the Lord. Don’t just be a bench-warmer in church, join a service group in your local church and be committed to serving God. As you do so, God will reward you as a labourer. Therefore, if you want God’s reward, refuse to be an onlooker because God only rewards labourers, not onlookers (Hebrews 11:6).

Let your Desire be in Place

If you are really getting set for marriage, then you must put your desire in place.  You must be honest with yourself by desiring in your heart to be married. This is because what you don’t desire, you don’t deserve. The Word of God says: But the desire of the righteous shall be granted (Proverbs 10:24). I want you to know that what you don’t desire may not come your way. This is because desires are from the heart and only what you desire in your heart is permitted to find expression on the outside. Don’t pretend not to be in need of a partner, when you actually need one. Let it show in your speech and actions that you really desire a partner, both privately and publicly without feeling embarrassed or ashamed.

Believe, Declare and Behave the Word

I want you to know that God’s Word cannot fail. If you have believed God for a life partner, God’s Word is the manual that contains all you will ever need in life. God’s Word contains all things that make for life and godliness, including marriage. Do you totally and truly believe Him? Remember, every man sets the stage for his miracle. However, it is your expectation that gets fulfilled by God. This is because one of the key factors for the miraculous is your expectation. As it is often said, “Expectation is the mother of Manifestation.” God started this year with us by telling us that it is our Season of Heaven on Earth: Wonders without End. You have decided to believe Him, but what is/are your expectations concerning what God has in store for you? Your mentality must conform to what God has said concerning you or you won’t receive it.

However, the good news is God is never late, but you have a role to play if you truly desire a partner. You must believe, declare and behave the Word of God that has been coming your way. Start telling people you will be getting married soon. If you are the kind of person, who stays out late, begin to practice what a married man or woman with family would do. As a lady, you may be thinking that you are over-ripped for marriage and no man is coming your way.  Or, that you are a single man, who has not found any lady to marry? I am glad to let you know that this year is your year! It is not too late for God!

Read this testimony of a sister some years back in our Church:

“I was forty and still single. Year after year, I get quite anxious about not being married. As a result, I was always very unhappy. I became dejected and almost lost control of many things in my life. However, when I came for the Women’s Convention in 1994, something extra-ordinary happened! While our mother in the Lord, Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Oyedepo was ministering, one of the things she said was: ‘Before the year runs out, as many of you who are single and desire a life partner, will be married’. I caught that statement and believed it instantly. Immediately, the devil whispered my age in my ears, but I told him to shut up. Our mother in the Lord further said, ‘And nothing shall be impossible to him that believeth’. That sealed up my mind to whatever thing the devil was telling me. No sooner did I get back home after that seminar that my miracle arrived. I met a brother, who proposed to me. Later, I discovered that he was God’s will for my life. Today, to the glory of God, we are not only married but also blessed with a bouncing baby boy. Truly, with God all things are possible!”

God does no respect persons; what He does for one, He is much more ready to do for another. If you will do what others did to receive from God, you will also have similar experiences. Therefore, I urge you to believe God this year and watch Him turn your captivity around, supernaturally.

To be able to have all it takes to get set for marriage and make a success out of it, you need to know the One, Who originated marriage. Knowing Him entails accepting and confessing Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. That is how to be born again. If you are not born again yet and you desire to be, you need to say this prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today as a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. I believe You died and rose on the third day for my sins.  I accept You as my Lord and Saviour.  Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”

Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you in Jesus’ Name! Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org; OR 07026385437 and 08141320204.
