CAN YOU BE TRUSTED?
Dear reader,
I am most excited each time I write to you. The Bible clearly states: Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof… (Ecclesiastes 7:8) This is the last month of the year; hence, God has a better package for you. He will be crowning this year for you with His goodness and your path dropping fatness.
A healthy relationship is always built on trust – friendship, marital or work relationship. Trust is precious and it builds on openness and transparency. Today, I would be sharing with you a vital issue titled: Can You Be Trusted. It is my prayer that after this teaching series you will be found trustworthy in all of your relationships.
What is Trust?
Trust is an essential, vital ingredient for any relationship to succeed; no relationship can experience true success without it. Someone has defined trust as communication+ commitment + time. Trust thrives in an atmosphere of effective communication and commitment that has passed the test of time
According to the Oxfords dictionary, trust is a firm belief in the reliability, truth or strength of a person; the state of being relied upon. Trust is not a gift it is a virtue. This literally means that to be trust-worthy requires that you consciously build yourself. Trust is reciprocal; the more you express your trust to members of your household, the more they respond to you in trust. It is a give and take adventure. It is not static, it is groomed intentionally. For instance, the carnal mind finds it difficult to trust God; but when you make a conscious effort to make things right with God through salvation, the process of trust begins. With constant study and meditation on God’s Word, coupled with prayers, results are bound to manifest in your life, which strengthens your trust in God. When you build trust in God, obedience to His Word and instruction becomes easy.
Why Trust?
The very essence of life depends on trust. You go to bed at night with a perfect plan for the next day, because you trust you will wake up the next morning. You breathe freely without bothering to crosscheck the oxygen level or quality of the air, you board a public transport with assurance that you will get to your destination, you eat from a restaurant without considering been poisoned, etc. All these actions are performed without concern, because you have unconsciously built a level of trust that disperse the fear of the unknown.
Note that, no successful family can survive without trust. It seems in this present time that trust has become a scarce commodity even amongst Christians, because over time trust has been betrayed. This has not done well to the society and the family too. It is pertinent to understand that anyone who finds it difficult to trust other people will also get others difficult to trust them. So as those around you should grow to trust and rely on you at all times, they should be free to confide in you, without fear of having their challenges being broadcast. This cannot be achieve on a platter of gold, it has to be worked on and proved beyond every reasonable doubt that you can be reliable and trusted. Trust guarantees easy conversation and coherence; there will be no room for disparities, unpredictability and insecurities.
Understand that: Children born in homes where there is an open display of trust, grow up more emotionally balanced than those bred in an atmosphere of dishonesty. They are more confident in life and approach issues with a right sense of judgement. One of the reasons we have many children in all manner of vices today, is because the vital key for a fulfilling home which is trust is missing. They do not feel their parents’ trust and so they care less if any other person wants to trust them or not. They develop a rebellious spirit and self-defensive, even when there is no need for it. This is the case of several homes today, but that will not be your case in Jesus’ name.
You might be left with the thought of how to recover lost trust in your family, there is one person who can restore all that has been lost, and He can only do that when you invite Him into your life, His name is Jesus and He is interested in restoring whatever you may have lost. If you have made the decision to accept Jesus today, you can say this prayer of faith:
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and Satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.
Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21). You are guaranteed the understanding of who you are in Jesus’ Name!
