CAN YOU BE TRUSTED? 2
I am most excited each time I write to you, and today I would be talking to you on a vital topic, “Can You Be Trusted”, but today I will be laying emphasis on How to Build Trust. I know you will gain more wisdom and understanding about the importance of trust as you stay glued to this write up.
How to Build Trust
If trust is this important, then how do you build it? Trust does not naturally happen between two people or members of a family, even though they love each other, it takes work and commitment to build. Your past experiences sometimes may affect your ability to trust. If you had been hurt in the past, it can be especially difficult. The good news, however is that in Christ there is hope, for:
”All things are by the law purged with blood…” (Hebrews 9:22)
The blood of just has cleansed us of all forms of unrighteousness. However to get started you have to intentionally make trustworthiness a priority in your relationship, as with all relationships, begin with yourself, develop your reputation as a person of honesty, integrity and reliability. Strive to be reliable in your actions, words.
Seek the interest of every member of your family, let no one be left out everyone’s opinion should be welcomed and if proven wrong should be corrected in love. Give yourself to seeing the family needs as yours, give no room to negligence and laxity in the affairs of your children and husband. Spend time with them and create opportunities to interact with each other in love, share daily experiences and interests. Encourage the strengths of your children and your husband ensuring they become the best they can be in any field of endeavor they so wish to venture into.
Keep Your Promises
Promises have a way of creating excitement. It brings anticipation and hope, and if not kept, it destroys. If for any reason you are not able to keep any promise made, ensure that a thorough and honest explanation is given for it with apologies. Particularly, in raising children, hope and trust God to help you keep every word you speak to your children. Don’t make promises you know you will not fulfill, just to get your children off your back. Children find it very difficult to understand why a parent will promise to do something and fail to do so. Learn to follow the example that God has left for us, He always fulfils every promise he made. Always say what you mean and mean what you say. The home becomes as untrustworthy environment when people make threats or say things they don’t mean. It becomes empty words that will be taken for granted because every iota of trust has been lost. So all the ‘I will beat you’ threats you issue to your children that have become a play sentence should be redressed. It is very important that every member of your household trust what you say.
Comparison creates doubt and causes trust to decay, this in turn creates unnecessary competition, resentment and bitterness. Accept everyone’s differences that is what makes them unique. Don’t compare other children with your children, or compare them amongst themselves; it makes them cold and unable to interact with each other. Seek to find the best in each person, help them build their strengths and seek they improve in their weaknesses in love. Promote daily practice of gratitude for everything your family members provide and offer to you, and the family at large. Let the focus be on those things that you admire in your family rather than the negatives.
Admit Your Mistakes
Take responsibility for every of your actions, don’t try hiding them, dishonesty kills a family relationship faster than virus. Everyone makes mistakes no one is perfect, don’t shy away from the truth and taking responsibility instead of making excuses for every wrong thing done. If you fail to acknowledge your mistakes, you make it difficult for people to trust you. Be open-minded and vulnerable for your family, this creates better avenues for building trust.
Trust is not far-fetched, it is those small, consistent and insignificant words and gestures when practiced daily that instills trust in the family. Therefore make a decision today to regain the lost trust in your family. May be is seems everyone is a victim of their insecurities, and all hope to gain trust is cover; I have a good news for you there is someone who is interested in restoring the trust and integrity of your home, his name is Jesus, he is willing to help you if only you surrender to him and accept him as your lord and personal savior.
