BUILDING BLOCKS FOR A SUSTAINABLE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
This is the day the Lord has made that you will be glad and rejoice in Him, His words are new every day, as each day comes by He has something to teach you to equip you for the glorious destiny awaiting you in future, so don’t miss out this wonderful opportunity. Today, God has chosen that I bring you this lesson Building Blocks for a Sustainable Relationship with God. The Bible says, Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you… (James 4:8). This indicates that for you to get most of God, you have to intentionally draw near to God, and the process of drawing near to God is by establishing a relationship with God.
The greatest relationship that anyone can have is with God. Your relationship with God sets the pace for your other relationships with men. The richer your relationship with God, the more successful your relationship with men will be. Your relationship with God can be considered from three different levels, namely: as your creator, father and Lord. God is your Creator (Genesis 1:27) and you can relate with Him as His creature. To every human being on earth, born again or not, God created everyone. So, He is the creator of every living. God becomes your Father when you give your life to Jesus and get born again. The Bible says, But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12).
When you have a personal relationship and encounter with Him, then He becomes your Father. He is now both your creator and your Father. However, the highest relationship with God is when He becomes your Lord. He is only the Lord of those who have consciously, deliberately dedicated their lives unto Him. Those who are ready to say ‘yes Lord’ to His will, plan, purpose and destiny. Those who are ready to say like Apostle Paul, For me to live is Christ and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21). This is the level that God desire from every one of us. You graduate from one level to another, in that order.
When you establish a relationship with Him, be rest assured that nothing can change His plan and purpose for your life, may this be your portion, in Jesus name! It is very important for you therefore, to understand that God desires an intimate relationship with you, to be open to Him, then you will have access to His plans for your life.
You can safely say that your relationship with God is the only sure foundation for success in every other kind of relationship. It is utterly important for you to straighten up your relationship with God. How you treat God without any doubt, will affect how you treat men. How do you treat God? Do you respect Him or are you one of those that take Him for granted? Do you see your relationship with Him as one of those things just to fulfill righteousness? You must relate with Him with a deeper knowledge of who He is. It is time therefore, to seek Him and search for Him with all your heart, because that is the foundation. Remember, He says in His Word only those who seek Him early shall find Him (proverbs 8:17), so seek God early so that you may find Him.
Building Blocks for a Sustainable Relationship with God
To develop an intimate relationship with God, you have to consciously, deliberately, intentionally, willingly, excitedly make yourself available through deep Word study, consistent and quality prayer life and constant fellowship with Him. The following are the building blocks for a sustainable relationship with God:
Study the Word
The Bible is the written Word of God. It is powerful as if you are hearing God speak to you audibly. Know God personally and daily develop your relationship with Him through deep Word study. Studying His Word will make you familiar with His voice. Naturally, if you have a strong relationship with someone, like a family member or a close friend, you could easily pick his or her voice among the crowd. One time, many years ago when my biological mother was alive we went to a particular city for a meeting. It was such a great crowd, I could identify my mother’s voice; even though I never knew that she was in that city at that point in time. That is how it should be with God. This kind of relationship can be developed through your studying of His Word. If you are familiar with God’s voice, He will caution and deliver you from entering wrong relationships with men.
Consistent Prayer Life
Prayer is a communication link with God. If your prayer life is buoyant, then your relationship with Him will be buoyant. God desires that we commune with Him daily. Just as it is not natural for you to have a relationship with someone you do not talk to, so also you cannot have a deep relationship with God if your prayer life is not sound. Psalm 65:2 says, O thou heareth prayer unto thee shall all flesh come.
It is impossible to get to know the secrets of someone whom you are not close to, until you find time to get to spend time with the person. God always demand you spend time with Him, because He is the only one who can reveal life and the deep things of life to you. God demands you give Him attention as much as you demand His attention in various areas of your life. More so, go to Church regularly, it strengthens your fellowship with God. God is always there whenever and wherever His name is called upon in truth and indeed. As you go to Church and attend fellowship, you also partake of the gifts that operate in the body of Christ and you are more rooted in your relationship with your heavenly Father. The Bible in Hebrews 10:25 says, Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
God who is your Father is ever ready to hear you anytime you call. Therefore, do not hesitate to commune with God. The only way to impact your generation is by the help of God, which is possible when you spend time with God in prayers.
Therefore, for you to build a strong relationship with God, you have to be rooted in Christ because He is the passage to God. The Bible says in John 14:6, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. This is a clear evidence that you have to accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour to be able to build a relationship with God. If you have made this decision, you can say this prayer of faith with me:
Father, I realise that I have been a sinner. Today I believe You died and rose on the third day redeeming me from all my sins. Now I accept You Lord, save me and accept me as Your child, write my name in the book of like. Thank You Father for saving me, in Jesus name!
