BUILDING BLOCKS FOR A SUSTAINABLE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD (2)

Dear Reader, It is a great privilege I bring you God’s Word again, I am convinced that He has ministered to you from the first edition of this series Building Blocks for a Sustainable Relationship with God and I’m sure this second edition will lighten up the revelation of building a relationship with God.

Building a relationship with God is not by accident, it is a conscious walk and work with God that can guarantee what is built. However, it does not just happen, it takes time, you have to build it and follow Him step after step to authenticate it. Furthermore, to build a sustainable relationship with God that will impact your life and generation there are vital principles you need to follow in order to establish a lasting relationship with God, they are as follows:

Principle of Faith

Faith is a must for you to be able to trust Him. Faith is the foundation for trust; so, there can be no trust in God outside faith. Faith is the custodian of every great destiny; without doubt, you have a great destiny and a colourful future, but you need faith to take delivery of them.

What is Faith?

Faith is being fully Word persuaded, to an extent that you do what the Word says with absolute delight and excitement, without reservation. This is more than just speaking or thinking ‘faith language’, like many do. It is practically living by faith. The Bible says in Habakkuk 2:4, Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith. Faith is for living! In Hebrews chapter 11, there is a catalogue of those who did exploits by faith.

Abraham established a relationship with God through faith, he was named the father of faith, and he worked with God doubtlessly that God himself called him His Friend. There was never a time Abraham argued with God or doubted Him not even when God asked him to sacrifice his only son Isaac. He did not hesitate to adhere to God’s instructions; he obeyed promptly and earned God’s trust (Hebrews 1:8, 17-19)

As a young teenager this is the best time to build a relationship with God through faith, this will serve as a compass for a glorious destiny after the order of Daniel (Daniel 1:1-8), David (1 Samuel 17), and Joseph (Genesis 37). They built their faith in God as a teenager and if we read through the scriptures we will find out how successful they were just because they built their relationship with God.

Principle of Love

Faith works by love and love works perfectly through faith The Bible says, For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love (Galatians 5:6). You cannot love someone you don’t believe in, you cannot also believe who you don’t love, that is how faith and love works. There is no way a relationship can be built outside love, likewise your relationship with God. You have to make conscious efforts to love God and grow in His love. God revealed Himself to our fathers of faith because of the love they have for God and it is evident in all their works and establishments. Love means to be truly interested in another than yourself, no wonder the Bible says in Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.

Kenneth Hagin said, ‘When you make it a point to walk in love, you will find that the God-kind of love spills over into every aspect of your life. Not only will you reap spiritual benefits; you will reap natural benefits that you never thought possible’.

If you are going to make faith your strong house, you must make its foundations strong. And the foundation of faith is love and love is a foundation for a quality walk with God. The Kingdom of God has been damaged by people who heard the faith message once and run off with it without knowing what they were or how to use what they had heard. Before long, they came crashing down and didn’t understand why, but this will not be your portion, in Jesus name! However, it is not enough to have faith, your faith must be grounded in love and you cannot have love without faith.

I am what I am today not because of my efforts but because I decided to love God as a young girl, I became born again at age 15, and today you can see what God has made out of me. You too can also have a glorious destiny, simply by building a relationship with God.

Acknowledging Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour is the first step to having a successful life. Therefore, for you to build a relationship with God you have to be rooted in Christ because He is the passage to God. The Bible says in John 14:6, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. This is a clear evidence that you have to accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour to be able to build a relationship with God. If you have made this decision you can say this prayer of faith with me:

Father, I realise that I have been a sinner. Today I believe You died and rose on the third day redeeming me from all my sins. Now I accept You Lord, save me and accept me as Your child, write my name in the book of like. Thank You Father for saving me, in Jesus name!
