You are welcome to the second half of the month and I know that every day of this month has being expository and exciting for you, just as it has being for me. I am assured that from the lessons of the first article, you have learnt some steps on becoming a leader and you are putting what you learnt into action. As you do that, I see you becoming the leader that God would be proud of in the mighty name of Jesus!
In this second segment of our studies, I shall be discussing with you more points to note and do in your journey to becoming a leader. Please understand: These attributes has nothing to do with the physical, but it has a lot to do with your willingness to succeed at your calling and improve in what you do. Leaders are learners. To be a good leader, you must always seek ways to be better at what you do. Therefore, the following points will be helpful to you:
Live a life of meaning: God does not appoint leaders based on their physique or facial features, but the quality of your heart to serve and be of relevance. The Bible says:
But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
If you study the lifestyles of notable leaders in the world, especially those of Christian background, you find one thing in common and that is a heart for the welfare of others. So, to be appointed a leader, you must drive towards touching lives positively.
Be Focus: Being focused helps you fight oppositions on your path to leadership. It keeps your mind on the target, thereby driving you to do more towards your goal. Your potentials find expression when you are focused. Also, you achieve more within a short period of time by placing your eyes at the end result. Remember, the Bible says “He that put’s is hand to the plough and looks back is not fit for the Kingdom” (Luke 9:62).
Engage the required Energy: You need much energy to become a leader. Leadership is not a supervisory position as others think, but you must work more than your followers. Remember:
And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all (Mark 10:44).
You must work more abundantly, because to whom much is given, much more is expected of him. If you are easily tired and relegate important duties to others, you might be overthrown in no time. So, be energetic if you must be a leader.
Avoid Waste: If you are truly committed to your given task, you will live a waste-free life. Your time would be judiciously utilised, resources will be used at the appropriate time and places and your energy will not be wasted in wrong labours. Remember God hates waste, so He would always enthrone good managers of His resources at all times.
However, no man emerges as a good, profitable and productive leader without being born again. You need to receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour if you must be enthroned as king on the earth and in God’s Kingdom. So, if you have not born again, you should say this prayer in faith right away: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I believe You died and rose again for my sake. Forgive me of my sins, take over my life, make me Your child and let Your peace reign over my life. Thank you for saving me. Now I know I am born again!
Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary.
