Dear Reader,

It’s wonderful having you around this second half of the month. I know you have being in the celebration mood since the month began. Indeed, joy and laughter will never cease from your habitation in the name of Jesus Christ!

We have been looking at how our association defines our destination and we have considered several points regarding it. However, if we must build and sustain right relationships, we must know how to do that.

Your relationship is everything! We make and keep relationships at every stage of our lives, with colleagues, at school, church, business places and even marital relationships. Therefore, we must learn what it takes to build strong relationships.

To build successful relationships which will enhance your impact in life, the following guidelines will be very helpful:

  • Know and Understand yourself: A good understanding of yourself will help you succeed in whatever relationship you are in, because you are the principle actor in it. So, before you entangle yourself with anyone, you need to find out who you are, what you are made for, what God says about you, your strength and weaknesses and most importantly where you are going.

Knowing this detailed information about yourself will help your choices not just in relationships, but life generally. Remember the Bible says: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge… (Hosea 4:6). You must not let your lack of knowledge about yourself led you to going the wrong path.

  • Be Focused: Focus is like the light that determines the course of action in any relationship (Matthew 6:22). If your focus is majorly on you and what you will get out of the relationship, then you are just being selfish.

You should constantly seek for how much impact you make on others than yourself. The true essence of one’s relationship is not what you acquire but how much you have been a blessing to others. So, focus on others and find creative ways of influencing them positively.

  • Be a Giver: You can give your time, energy, resources, ideals etc., for the good of the other. Remember that giving is not only one-sided; you are also receiving same from your relationship. Every relationship that seeks first what to give than receive, always last longer. For it is written: …It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
  • Walk in Love: It is the love of God in you that makes you seek to impact on others and not suck them dry. You must walk in love if your relationship must be a success and this comes through the help of the Holy Spirit. For the Bible says:

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5:5).

  • Be Understanding: Generally, people want to be understood, even you. So, you must treat other with understanding and avoid unrealistic expectations of them.

Learn to accept their errors and help them make amends in love if you can. Remember that we are all different, so you must appreciate the uniqueness in others.

Whatever good you invest into any relationship today, comes back to you in return. Dr. Mike Murdock once said: “What you make happen for others, God will make happen for you.” So, seek impact, positivity and relevance and it will pay off in the end.

As always, Jesus in you is the hallmark to every lasting value in life. Without Him as your guide, our efforts are in futility. Accepting Jesus into your life doesn’t take a longer process; just confess Him as Lord and Saviour of your life. To do this, you should say this prayer in faith:

Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I believe You died and rose again for my sake. Forgive me of my sins, take over my life, make me Your child and let Your peace reign over my life. Thank you for saving me.  Now I know I am born again!

Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name!  Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org, OR call 07026385437 and 08141320204.
